Lovenskate Ordinary Copper deck

The good fellas of Lovenskate have a new, limited edition deck series out this week dedicated to the fuzz. Fronted with a photo of classic TV rozzer Dixon of Dock Green, a character who hit British TV screens in 1955 and became a BBC favourite until 1976, the new deck comes with a true story and one we can all relate to. In Stu Lovenskate’s own words:

“So, not too long ago, we were out skating the city, and we got the boot from the cops, the usual. They were pretty nice about it too, until we thanked one for being cool about it, to which, he announced, ”The only time I like a skateboarder, is when he’s flying over the bonnet of my car”. NICE!

This new board graphic is now available from the Lovenskate site in various sizes and of course, printed in the UK. Get them quick.

Unabomber x Crossfire Pilot Tee collab

It doesn’t happen often in here but when Unabomber Skateboards asked us if we were interested in a collab, we decided that we should go back to the beginning when Crossfire was represented by the good old Bomber image and within a few emails, the ‘Pilot Tee‘ was born.

So, this collab celebrates 10 Years of us bringing you what we do in here from a brand that we have admired since day one. In fact, the winged handshake Unabomber logo is one of the most iconic British skateboard company logo’s ever made, so we are proud to merge our head and their hands for this one-off, limited edition run of tees.

Grab these whilst they are available from our online store. We will send them to you in the post as soon as you order with a Crossfire circle sticker and Refs Cards. Treat yourself to a comfy, new tee to celebrate with us and take into the summer month’s ahead. Thanks for your support.

Palace Skateboards Jungle Dream Hood

palaceskateboards_jungledreamhoodMixing the grime of innercity life and high fashion, this London-based brand has grown considerably over the last year and even drawn some European awared love in the process this year so far.

The Jungle Dream Hood by Palace sets itself aside from the rest of the garments on the clothes rack by its use of bold colours and triangle logo but also by it’s top-end price tag of £85. Many a skateboarder could not afford such an expensive item of clothing, but Palace isn’t seeking to supply the mass market. The people ready to pay top dollar for soft goods are those that recognise the difference in quality and the exclusive nature of the garment. Palace has produced a heavy 100% cotton top made in China with screened labels, thick cuffs and loose hood.

This is not the sort of top that’s going to shrink or fade after a 40-degree wash. Neither should it rip to shreds the next time to catch a crack in the pavement and hit the cold concrete. Check Slam, Lost Art, Reskue, Bored and other stores in the UK to pick one up.

Polar Skateboards Cut-Out team deck

Cut-Out Team Red (8″ x 32″)

Polar Skateboards is the brand new brainchild of Swedish über-skater Pontus Alv. Pontus has already established himself as a freethinking individual with his numerous cinematographic and cement mixed solo projects. It was only natural for someone with such an abundance of talent to push the “Do-it-yourself” ethic into a fully-fledged business. I’m not sure business is the right word though because Polar Skateboards is definitely focused on the aesthetic value of its products and team riders more than the simple profitability. That said, the Cut-Out Red team board I have been riding recently is worth every penny, kroner or cent on the tag.

Already, the graphic is great taking inspiration from French modern artist Henri Matisse with statuesque silhouettes laid from nose to tail. See the Blue Nude II for inspiration. Pontus has taken a bold step in his art direction and the use of bright colour and simple imagery places his product head and shoulders above the usual hogwash of cartoons and skulls that emblazon a lot of mainstream board company decks these days.

Pontus likes to ride everything so the Polar boards come with enough concave to carry your board and body over the steepest wallies and roughest surfaces. The nose of this particular model is rounded off to exactly 7 inches with the tail running just shy of 6.5 inches, which makes it easy to handle either way around. I imagine poor weather conditions were on his mind when Pontus went looking for the best manufacturer for Polar boards. The board was pressed in Germany and has so far withheld the terrible damp of winter and the brunt of unfortunate cracks in the pavement.

Check out Polar Skateboards at http://www.polarskateco.com or via Pontus’ blog.

Volcom Target Parka

Are you going through January blues, back to work, school or college, freezing your butt off in this winter weather front? If so, here’s a solution to find some happiness.

Volcom have unleashed a contender for Jacket of the Year to sort out your problems with their latest Target Parka that comes with a free feeling of being wrapped inside a baby lamb.

The warm, inner lining is soft, snug and also runs through the hood so you can keep your ears and head warm too. In fact, the Target is packed with so much of this lining that skating in this jacket would probably be a chore as it’s not lightweight enough for a shred and lacks the much needed breathing holes for any serious movement.

There’s no shortage of pockets inside this superb parka. Firstly there are 2 chest pockets to warm your hands in, filled with a super soft lining that instantly toasts your fingers. Two other button up pockets can be found on the front for gloves and the like, and there’s also a sturdy inside pocket for your phone and other technical junk.

This wonderful jacket is primarily designed to tackle the basic, day to day winter worries and does so with ease. It comes in both black and sandstone colourways and is guaranteed to keep you warm, so look no further than here this winter as Volcom have smashed it with simple, non-fussy, quality threads. Price wise the average is around £149 but these also vary in price if you search online. Go get one today and fight those cold days head on.

Quiksilver Ole Oxford shirt

Having never worn Quiksilver clothing before, this came as a complete surprise. Usually when I think Quiksilver, surfing comes to mind but their new core skate range is impressing by each garment that is being pulled out of the box here.

The Ole Oxford shirt is so soft that you will be going back a few years and remiscing on when your dinner was made for you and carried to bed. It comes with a single pocket on the left of your chest, a very small collar that can be buttoned down and zero branding making this a total winner. No big surf logos, no crazy red and whiteness, just plain, and beautiful and extremely soft to the touch.

I can safely say that once ironed and out of the wash, this will be one of your favourite shirts this winter.
