If you have been following the fantastic work from Irish photographer Richard Gilligan over the years you would be familiar with his hands-on approach to shooting skateboarding. This month, a French publisher has released his new book from work that been archived for the last 4 years titled DIY, a collection of photographs of home-made skateparks throughout Europe and the US which explores the landscape and people that build and inhabit these hidden spaces.
His shots capture the hard work and endless energy that skateboarders put into a DIY project and the feeling that we all collectively receive from the end result, free from the constraints of societal rules.

That feeling of a new, fitted shirt cannot be beaten, especially when found in a sale coming in at only £25 this month. Etnies have a sale on right now on their website as the seasons change and one of the bargains we have picked out for you as a reccomendation this week is the Chillaxin shirt.
The Etnies online sale this week has another gem on sale at sample prices. Devine Calloway’s signature collection has a summer classic featured combining 55% cotton and 45% polyester to create this lightweight yarndye plaid short sleeve shirt that is ready to be delivered to your house for only £29.99 this week.

Remember when Etnies launched their ‘Buy a shoe, plant a tree’ initiative to restore the Costa Rican forests last year? At the time, we were sent over a pair of these to check out and they were a serious winner. This year, the quest still goes on. Etnies’ drive to make shoes made from recycled tyre parts, bottles and cork are still going strong and are still as comfortable twelve months later.
The summer may be late this year in the UK but there’s no point in being stuck in the heat once it drops without some new threads. You know that feeling of pulling on a new shirt once the sun is shining out there and optimism tells me that we are close to actually having some killer weather on the way. We are bloody well OWED some right now.
There’s a strong feeling when you get a package of shoes from
DIY t-shirt companies are always rad. This new one called Naptime is run by Pulled Apart By Horses drummer Lee and his wife who have a small but cool selection of designs available via their online store right now.
