The Couch Potato #4

Welcome to the first video round up of 2013. You should know the drill by now, this selection of legally uploaded videos featured below are longer than your average web edit and will require you to actually sit down, put your feet up and enjoy them. There are British, French and American productions in here this time round so get the teas on, press play and enjoy.

MAGENTA – PANIC IN GOTHAM

The Magenta team hit up NYC last November and returned with enough footage for a 7 minute edit. The footage filmed & edited by Colin Read was shot following the demise of Hurricane Sandy that caused havoc in the city. Enjoy footage of Leo Valls, Vivien Feil, Soy Panday, Jimmy Lannon & friends Ben Gore, Alex Davis, Lurker Lou, Liu Puli, Joel Meinholz, Connor Kammerer, Alex Fogt, Ryan Barlow, Kenji Nakahira, Quim Cardona and Masaki Ui. Additional filming by Static’s Josh Stewart & Ryan Garshell

DECE VIDEO

Green Diamond have released their DECE video in full for you to devour. 24 minutes of skateboarding featuring Brits abroad such as Lucien Clarke and Danny Brady plus US rippers such as Austyn Gillette, Shawn Powers and far too many more to mention. This is by far our most voted choice.

TRANS SIBERIAN RAILWAY

Slap uploaded an unseen 20 minute production titled Trans Siberian Railway featuring Kenny Reed, Keegan Sauder, Jack Sabback and the late Van Wastell as they travel through the heart of Europe and Asia by train. Whoever made this needs locking up.

SKATEBOARDING A WHILE BACK

Enjoy this West London scene edit that has only just surfaced and was filmed a few years ago. This footage has been sat on tape since and features Guy Birchard, Kyron McGrath-Davis, Daryl Dominguez, Trevor Beasley, Aaron Sweeney, Awadh Mohammed and many more in and around London from Dave Perez.

MAGIC STICKY HAND

Heroin Skateboards will be rolling out a fresh video titled ‘Video Nasty‘ in July but for now they have unleashed their last team video Magic Sticky Hand online in the last 2 weeks. Inject the full dose here.

Vans Downtown Showdown 2012 results and videos

This weekend’s Downtown Showdown held in Amsterdam went offin fine style. If you didn’t manage to tune into the live stream of the event from Vans then catch up with the highlights from all 4 teams.

Flip team rider Overall “Best Pro” Luan Oliveira skated with remarkable consistency and smooth style, landing tricks and winning 1st place on the Palace Obstacle and the Blueprint Obstacle. Best Overall Am was Element team rider Ross McGouran, who also took 3rd place on the Flip obstacle, skating hard all day. He made every transfer the windmill-inspired Antiz obstacle had to offer.

Flip:

Inside the massive Gasholder building at the Flip Obstacle the atmosphere intensified with heavy hitting last tricks and a solid performance by first place finisher Dominik Dietrich, who set the bar with a wallie up and Nollie heelflip down the ledge.

Blueprint:

At Blueprint, Luan Oliveira landed a variety of flip tricks over the pyramid and on the ledge. Billy Marks double flipped the gap to flat and walked away with 1,000 Euros for 2nd place. Technical and creative skater Dallas Rockvam took third place by using the entire design, which was inspired by the barges and canals of Amsterdam.

Antiz:

The Antiz Obstacle rose above the venue floor like a classical Dutch Windmill on Acid. Rob Smith took first place by skating every angle, while Ben Nordberg’s backside nose blunt on the extension ricocheted into applause that reverberated off the walls.

Watch: Two Fresh Antiz Edits

Antiz have been very busy since returning from their Hobo Tour and welcoming Dallas Rockvam onto the team as their first US pro. Just this week they’ve knocked out two edits online full of rad wheel-pushing as standard from the boys.

Firstly there is a Hobo Erectus edit, which is a hot minute of concrete ripping and then another clip featuring a couple of days skating makeshift spots in warehouses and some street fun too. As always, it’s worth a watch. See below and grab the goods while they’re hot.

For a constant stream of goodness, be sure to follow Antiz filmer Paul Labadie’s ‘Hobo Erectus‘ blog on Soma.

Line Check – Holiday 2010 1 of 2

Across the UK, skater owned shops are currently getting fresh packages from distributors dishing out the new products for the Holiday Season. Understandably, there’s lots of quality goods included in these packages and condensing our favourites into one Line Check didn’t seem as appealing to us as running two of them. So before you head out with the intention of blowing your Xmas savings, have a look at our selection of some top shelf products that are arriving in your local skate shop now.

Antiz have never been afraid to tell it like it is, so with the help of Ben The and Ludovic Gabriel they have produced the ‘Ass‘ Series. Just like everyone has an opinion, everyone has an ass; and the Antiz pro team are no exception to that rule.

Skate Mental have a huge range of decks available right now but those are our chosen six above, including O’Neill’s of-the-moment ‘Call Of Duty‘ deck and Matt Beach’s super rad Tre Flip model that provides Ewoks with the publicity they have always deserved.

Kill City are keeping things street in South Wales with their ‘Spray Paint‘ and ‘Marker‘ models. Note how good those sizes are; for those of you out there with pixie feet who haven’t made the jump up from 7.5″ here’s a good excuse to man up.

Tyler Bledsoe’s debut pro model for Alien Workshop is in shops now with a suitably trippy graphic to cause your own Mindfield to relapse. Crayon hooked up with the CSC mascot, ‘Boxman‘ and his model designed by the wonderful Philip Morgan is now available fresh from the press. Hype! are making a name for themselves with some superb web edits and quality decks to match and Karma hooks up with the insomniac Alex Maw who knocked up a couple of rad designs for their latest decks. We’re stoked on these.

Ace Trucks are starting to become a common name in UK stores so if you’re looking for something new to get your grind on with then try these out. They are selling fast having already made an impact on a competitive truck market in the US and are set to do the same here.

OJ Wheels have made a welcome comeback into the urethane spotlight this year and are our selected wheels alongside Andrew Pommier’s Tin Toy series for Momentum.

The winter warmers are in stock! Now, unless your skin is made of thinsulate material then you’ve probably noticed it’s absolutely bloody freezing outside; have a look at cozy jackets and shirts from Matix, Fourstar, Addict, Independent and Etnies right there above.

Ok, so we were so stoked on Beach’s 360 flipping Ewok that we had no choice but to include the matching tee in our t-shirt round up alongside other graphic gems from Girl and Hype! Uzi does it now…

Soletech may be reknowed for their innovative progress in shoe technology, but you shouldn’t think that less effort is put into their threads. éS and Emerica make some of the best clothes going and the cords and chinos you see above are nice, simple and ridiculously comfortable.

But if it is shoes you’re after because the ones your wearing are soaked through with melted snow then be sure to check out Habitat’s Footwear range. Like Soletech, they’ve got the talent and experience to dabble in more than just one area. We have a Habitat package to give away this month that includes a pair of their awesome shoes; click here to enter. And as per, DVS bring the goods with simple and effective designs in dope colourways. Port should be really considered more often.

Check back for more recommended products in the following weeks.
