Courtney Love announces new 7” single
Famed equally as the queen of provocateur as she is as front woman and songwriter of Hole, Courtney Love has today announced a surprise 7″ single titled ‘Miss Narcissist’.
As well as her own hand-drawn sleeve art, pictured below, the release also contains the B-side ‘Killer Radio’ which is exclusive to the 7″ and will soon be released physically via Ghost Ramp, the label founded by Nathan Williams of Wavves. Stream it here.

So Stressed hail from Sacramento and make the kind of ear stinging post-hardcore that demands playback at maximum volume for guaranteed bone crunch. The three-piece have recently hooked up with Honor Press, a brand new label founded by Meredith Graves of Perfect Pussy fame, for the release of their debut album, and ‘Apple Hill’ / ‘Merv King & The Phantoms’ is our first taste.
Fans of noise giants Metz and Pissed Jeans will find solace here, along with those who favour the scrappy racket of Greys and Bad Breeding too, as So Stressed kick out steaming jams riddled with angst, tension and set to blow.
Surprisingly, the trio are reportedly hell bent on perfection, and have a policy of immediately scrapping any song if one band member has the slightest doubt about its intensity. This mutual insistence on the perfect may come as a shocker context to their unhinged and explosive sound, but you can only admire a band who have spent over two years grafting in the studio to get their debut right, their way. Look out for So Stressed’s first album The Unlawful Trade of Greco-Roman Art due for release on May 25th.

‘Car Crush’

There seems top be a Spanish invasion going on right now in the punk scene. Just last week we were discovering the garage vibes of new Madrid band The Parrots and this week, another Spanish band who have garage in their veins has arrived, bang on cue.
Aliment’s ‘Car Crush’ track, an upbeat, punk rock sing-a-long with pop tendencies that kicks out the jams and is over in a flash. They may have garage roots somewhere in their DNA but have more in common with the likes of Pegboy and the Marked Men whose driving punk rock is everlasting.
The trio, originally from Girona, now reside in Barcelona and have an album called ‘Silverback’ coming out via La Castanya this September. Have a taster from what’s coming and look out for them live, they sound like they could get a room going for sure.

PiL announce new album
John Lydon’s legendary Public Image Limited have announced their 10th studio album, What The World Needs Now…, for release on September 4th.
The album follows 2012’s This is PiL, which marked the band’s first release in 17 years, and will be preceded by a 10″ single, ‘Double Trouble’ / ‘Betty Page’, on August 21st. The single is also said to be backed by a non-album track titled, ‘Turkey Tits’.
What The World Needs Now… was recorded at Steve Winwood’s Wincraft Studios in the Cotswolds and is a project entirely self-funded by the band to be released on their own label, PiL Official. A full EU tour has also been announced today and will take in a string of shows through the UK, listed below. Tickets go on general sale this Thursday May 21st at 9am.

The legendary glow in the dark skatepark installation, conceptualised by leading South Korean artist Koo Jeong A, has been commissioned to be built in North Liverpool, following the success of her work on the popular Otro Park in France (pictured below).
Liverpool Biennial in partnership with Friends of Everton Park, Liverpool City Council and Liverpool Vision are behind the project who have invited Wheelscape to build a flourescent, glow-in-the-dark bowl for skateboarding with Koo Jeong A’s involvement.
“This will be the flagship project of a citywide scheme by Liverpool City Council to produce and build five wheels parks in Liverpool” say Liverpool Biennial, which can only mean good things for local skaters and those who wish to visit one of the best cities in the UK.
The installation should be open in Everton Park on October 5th, Halloween in Liverpool just got a new twist!
