Northampton’s new skatepark for Midsummer Meadow

Northampton’s skaters are getting closer to getting the skatepark they have waited for, for years. This clip featuring Vans cheese Kevin Charles confirms that harmony has been reached with the council on the location with the beautiful Midsummer Meadow likely to host the park.

This is another victory for local skateboarders who have not stopped asking for somewhere to skate since the closure of Radlands. If you are nearby then look out for the design plans and expect the park to be open in Spring 2012.

Line Check September 2011

The current change in the season means new decks are needed. This month’s Line Check has Zip Zingers from Krooked, Superdead‘s Autumnal horror from Mr Gauky (who you will hear more about at the Crossfire Halloween Massacre), Black Label‘s Space Invaders, smokers from Flip, Anti Hero‘s Bitter offerings, Baker‘s colurful dozens and Fabric‘s first wave of wood from up North.

Broadcast, Powell and Spitfire bring the wheels that go with some new trucks from Independent, Venture and Thunder. Also check out the new Stella Supply Co hardware that Fos and Joleon Pressey have rolled out in the UK. Reflex skate tool’s are doing the rounds so you can tighten your rude manufacturing up on the move.

There are always a good selection of tee shirts out there all year round. Fabric, Heathen, Superdead, Spitfire and Vans. Altamont also have some prime cuts as do DGK, who have rolled out their latest colourful collection.

If you want chillers then Emerica have the new Wino Mid and Hopi‘s this month for the hedonists. Vans are still rolling out the Classics, Etnies have gone 70’s on us for Autumn and we will all miss éS as it goes into hibernation for the forseable future. All of these are available in your local skate shop. Seek and Destroy.

Vans Downtown Showdown London video part 1

I’m sure it’s safe to say that you’ve all probably already seen the edits and highlights of the brilliant Vans Downtown Showdown skate event that was held in London in August this month. Instead of covering the event trick by trick, we decided to focus on an alternative view with the help of hardworking artist, French as he designed the artwork. So this video series will cover the Showdown itself, a guest pro interview and an insight into French’s daily life as part of our Day In The Life skate art series that will all make sense on Halloween this year.

In the first part of three episodes, we kick off the day in question at French’s gaff by waking up the Antiz guys and heading over to Spitalfields Market to see what went down. Be sure to tune in next week where we interviewed ‘The Mayor of the Piss Drunks’ and Vans pro Dustin Dollin.

VANS Downtown Showdown rocks London

Photo by Matthew Bromley: Samual Partaixwallrides.

This weekend’s Downtown Showdown organised by VANS went off in fine style. The Spitalfields crowds were spoilt for choice with guest pro’s Alva, Rowley, Dollin, AVE and Pfanner teaming up with Vans legend, Steve Van Doren himself to bring the capital a top day out.

Despite the classic British weather that brough sunshine and showers, the skateboarding impressed with sponsored riders from Alis, Death, Palace, Blueprint, Antiz, Cliche, Enjoi, Element (Europe), Superdead and Yama getting amongst the obstacles on show built by the teams themselves. Our favourite being Death Skateboards’ Ripper Alley, that had whippy transitions, concrete coping, a bank to wall, a hip and a rails within its design.

Overall, this was the biggest skateboard event to grace London in a while. The highlight of the day being Steve Van Doren, walking around with a smile on his face serving people pizza! Look out for an interview with Dustin Dollin from the event on here soon.

Watch video of VANS shop looting in Manchester

If you recognise any of the looters raiding the VANS shop in this riot video then please call the Manchester Police. As you can see, this store was breached in a big way and lost a lot of stock and the shop front itself was damaged quite badly.

Please post the URL of this news page on your facebook and tweet it so that others can shop the looters. Also, do not forget that any bargains that are offered to you in local skateparks will more than likely be stolen, so do not fuel the looters needs by buying it cut price.
