Romford Carnage Ahead…

If there is one park in the UK that every skater needs to skate and graze their skin on it’s Romford! This concrete behemoth from the age of dinosaurs boasts some of the best and toughest transitions, bumps and lumps, so it’s only right that this Summer a comp is going down on these holy grounds.

June 17th is Rom Day with the Duffs Concrete Carnage challenge. Don’t fret if you aren’t sponsored or pro because this one’s open to anyone with the minimal motor neuron skills to stand on their sled. Best trick comps, cash prizes and Duffs riders will all there to get you amped to shred so make sure you’re there!

Check out www.duffs.co.uk for more info…

Who? What? Where? When? Why?

Here is a quick rundown of what happened over the weekend:

Marc Johnson took his balancing acts over to Spitfire Wheels.

Guru Khalsa has quit Creation Skateboards for a spot on Habitat. Aren’t they working on a new video..?

Alex Olsen has travelled hard to earn a spot on the Girl team.

The Lakai French Connection a.k.a. JB Gillet, Lucas Puig and JJ Rousseau are said to be touring England and France very soon with bossman Ty Evans, so you know the footy is going to be Fully Flared.

Krooked Kronicles premiered all over the West Coast (and it currently heading East, and towards Europe!!!) to packed out crowds. It’s too close to say who has best part, so I guess that means the whole video is dope!

Is Birdhouse falling apart at the seams..?

Malmö Gets Served By Euro Contingent

It didn’t take long for the brand new Stappelbaddsparken Bowl in Malmö, Sweden, to get a proper thrashing, and the Quiksilver Bowlriders was the occasion to bring it on. The constant threat of rain over the weekend of May 19th to 21st, could not dampen the excitement of the huge crowds or riders in attendance. Riders dropped in from all over the Globe, including America, Sweden, France, Spain, Italy and Great Britain of course.

Despite the presence of previous winners and crowd favourites, Omar Hassan and Rune Glifberg, it was a mad mix of talent that fought for top honours. It was so tight that people couldn’t tell if English Andy Scott’s wizardry was going to beat the ballistic skating of Italian Daniel Cardone. There had to be a winner though and it was Daniel Cardone that shone through with some ridiculous speed and height to his tricks, plus that unique smooth stance that has got the Italian’s name of everyone’s list as the one to watch. Better luck next time Andy!

Take note of the top three finalist nationalities- has the European Guard arrived..? With training grounds like Malmö, Courtrai (Belgium), Burnley (UK) or Bologna (Italy) it’s no wonder!

Final Results
1. Daniel Cardone (IT)
2. Alain Goikoetxea (ES)
3. Rune Glifberg (DK)
4. Omar Hassan (US)
5. Benji Galloway (US)
6. Chris Senn (US)

Consolidated Still Won’t Do It

Not long ago, a scandal broke out in the industry pitching two sworn enemies head to head: Consolidated Skateboards Vs. Nike Footwear.

Basically, Consolidated have preached ‘Don’t do it!’ in regards corporate involvement in skateboarding and the general raping of our culture by arrogant multinationals. Nike have tried numerous times to infiltrate the much sought after core skate market, and this time around they seem to have succeeded. BUT when the in house graphic designer for Conso was approached to design an insole for Nike SB model and agreed, and with that Nike thought they could market the new model as the Consolidated shoe???

Despite the recognizable blue, black and white colourway that is affiliated to Conso, the shoe is in no way endorsed by Consolidated or carries any of the skate company’s logos.

Naturally Consolidated hit the roof and is currently filing a lawsuit against the greedy multinational. They also booted amateur Seth McCallum by principle because he was getting flow from the enemy.

Damn… This reads like a good soap opera! In any case the jury are still out on the verdict, but keep posted to Crossfire as we are following the case every step of the way.

Mattias Nylen Wins Malmo Bowlriders

The competition was fierce and the ‘crete was fresh- The Quiksilver Bowlriders rolled up on Malmö, Sweden and unleashed a beast of a comp!

Malmö boasts the deepest bowl in Europe, but that didn’t scare British hopeful, Alex Hallford from Nottingham, who was hucking huge frontside airs in the deep end during his second runs. However, it was down to the local talent to reap the rewards of serious bowl schralpage! Mattias Nylen got first with his frontside blunts and stalefishs in the deep end, ahead of Swedish skate legend Nicky Guerrero who kept it cool with board control. Third place went to French madman, Seb Daurel who went warp speed around the concrete transition- so fast in fact that Christian Hosoi, who was an honary guest at the event, looked shocked!

Next stop Bologna for the Bowlriders final where Matthias can compete against the previous winners of each leg. Crossfire says watch out for Simon from Belgium and Andy Scott from England – undeniable talent on the road to victory…
