The Black Angels to release Phosgene Nightmare on RSD

Texan psych-garage rockers The Black Angels have announced they will release a ltd edition 6 track 10 inch white vinyl that will come packed with a download card so that you don’t need to rip the tracks. Phosgene Nightmare will be available on Record Store Day on Saturday April 16th and will have the following B-side tracks and limited to only 500 copies in the UK. Pick it up from Banquet Records.

A.Dd+ release free album

Dallas’ A.Dd+ released their new album When Pigs Fly for free yesterday.

The Texans have put the entire album up on their bandcamp which gives you the option to grab it for nothing or else pay $12 and get the physical copy of the record including a poster and your hand numbered card. There are only 30 odd left so get involved before it’s too late!

Soundset Festival line up announced

Minnesota’s Soundset Festival announced their line up for 2011 yesterday and it’s a biggun.

Atmosphere take their usual slot as headliners and this year will be ably supported by Big Boi, De La Soul, the entire Doomtree crew, Dilated Peoples, Slaughterhouse, Brother Ali, Edan, Looptroop, Zion I, Blueprint, DJ Abilities, Exile and many more.

It’s been the highlight of the hip hop calendar for the past three years and is no doubt going to be the same this year. We should be there again so keep those eyes peeled for a review. Check out below for Wiz Khalifa killing it last year.

The Prodigy World’s On Fire to be screened in cinemas

Essex techno rockers The Prodigy have annoucned they will screen a gig that was recorded at last summer’s Milton Keynes Bowl show in UK cinemas this month.

Talking about the show the band say “The night was massive for us. It was important to us to bring a proper festival day and night for the people to remember and bring the same intense atmosphere like when we play Brixton Academy… and it was. Standing on that stage was a truly triumphant feeling for us as the whole place kicked off, we looked out and we were fuckin proud“.

‘World’s On Fire‘ will be aired in cinemas from 31st March. Watch the trailer for it here.

Raekwon writing autobiography

Wu-Tang member Raekwon has announced that he is planning to begin work on his autobiography soon. The rapper who played the HMV Forum this month, his second UK show spoke to AllHipHop and commented on his latest mission: “That’s in the making soon. I just gotta deal with certain things at certain times in my life. When it’s time to happen, yeah I got a great story and I’m going to tell the truth. It’ll be something that you can jump on a plane or get on the bus and say: ‘Yo that kid evolved as a man‘”.

Of his life, the rapper said: “I aint perfect, nobody’s perfect. We all do dumb shit and we all get caught up in certain situations but at the end of the day I know I became a man. I’m not no sucker nigga running around not doing right by my children, or raising them the wrong way. I’m in their life, I wish I could be in their more. But daddy gotta work. I got a vicious story that I’ma tell sooner or later“.

The Lords of Altamont return with Midnight To 666

Fans of 60’s garage punk and sleezy psychedelic greaser rock will be stoked to know that The Lords of Altamont are coming back with a new record titled Midnight To 666.

The ever changing line up of The Lords of Altamont is now packing Jake ‘The Preacher’ Cavaliere, Shawn ‘Sonic’ Medina, John ‘Big Drag’ Saletra, plus new addition Harry ‘Full Tilt’ Drumdini (formerly of punk legends The Cramps) and the full band will be gracing London’s Garage venue in Highbury and Islington on the 30th March.

Have a taster of “Save Me (From Myself)” and look out for the LP release on May 30th via Fargo.

SSS Problems to the Answer album for June

SSS recently finished recording their forthcoming new album, which is due to be released in June on Earache Records. The new album, titled PROBLEMS TO THE ANSWER, was recorded at Whitewood Studios in the band’s home town of Liverpool and is produced by Rob Whitely along with SSS bassist Mark Magill.

Foxy from the band says “The title PROBLEMS TO THE ANSWER gives outspoken practical solutions to problems faced in everyday life. External factors shape not only today, but yesterday and into tomorrow. SSS attempts to provide answers – for better or worse – in our most vicious recording to date.”

Black Mountain to release Rollercoaster

The mighty Black Mountain celebrate Record Store Day on Saturday April 16 by unleashing the third single from their third LP Wilderness Heart on seven inch vinyl.

“Rollercoaster” showcases the band’s trademark psych-metal sound, with the interchanging vocals of Stephen McBean and Amber Webber in full force. The song was recorded at Sunset Sound in Hollywood with Dave Sardy. The B-side to this single is entitled “In The Drones” and is previously unreleased. It features Webber’s haunting vocals at the forefront, accompanied by reverb-drenched picking and shadowy synth stylings underneath.

Get hyped as this album is one of the best ever.
