Hold Tight Henry has released another Spacial Dependents edit featuring footage at the Southbank during the filming sessions with Mekka for the Slam video, City of Rats.
“Determined to give as accurate a snapshot of the scene as possible, the inclusion of such staple figures in London’s skate community was a must. I met him down there late and chilled for a few hour, bunning and reminiscing about the golden years of Shell Center (look out for some bloggage on that front soon) until the place was quiet enough and he set about his work. Mekka is not someone you would fuck with on road; tough and experienced in the most shady of situations, he aproaches his skating much like I imagine he does the rest of his life – by not fucking about.
“He was trying a line ending on a powerful frontside nollie down the bank to flat, a path rarely taken when the infamous 7 set sits right beside it waiting for the lemmings to fall. He landed on every attempt, either buckling under the impact of his epic pop technique or hitting one of the many elevated slabs that litter the roll out. At one point I’m pretty sure he broke or fractured his arm, having already crippled his shoulder and snapped his board. Either way he did not skate after this night for a good month or so after getting a cast on it. But before that he just drank some beer, smoked a joint and ploughed through the pain until he rode out a few goes later, the results are one of my favourite clips from the video.”

Baysixty6 re-opens with a bang
What a weekend for skateboarding in the capital. After a 2 month wait, the new Baysixty6 skate park re-opened with a full house to skate what NikeSB had delivered in the re-build. Various team riders opened the park with the first NBD’s on what will be a long list in years to come.
Over 1000 turned out for the celebration that saw Theotis Beasley, Tom Harrison, Sean Malto, Fernando Bramsmark, Tim Zom, Korahn Gayle, Neil Smith, Chris Jones, Justin Brock, Wieger Van Wageningen, Kyron Davis and more rip the place apart for 90 minutes of madness.
We will drop a video edit from the session very soon but the est news is that the park is now open again. Session times are below. Each session is £7. Beginners weekend session is £4. After school club £2.

The brand new Newport City skatepark built by Acrete is set to open next Friday 21st September with a launch event put together by Dainton from Kill City Skateboards. The park looks absolutely amazing as you will see from this video that was shot this week. Join the event page and get down to Tredegar Park if you are local.

In classic Death style, Harrow’s most infamous skateboard company has announced today that the premiere of their new full length DVD will be held at The Trinity Bar in Harrow at 9pm on the eve of October 11th from 7pm.
This traditional get together for Death Skateboards videos has not been seen since Better Than Life dropped into the skate scene 5 years ago. Bands will play, I.D will be needed, booze will fly everywhere, the sound will be so deafening that some will wear earphones, others will be unable to see the screen due to crowd surfing but good times will be had by all.
Expect live bands and the screening of Death’s most eagerly anticipated film ever. Full sections will come from Cates, Melcher, Nicolson, Dave Allen, Rob Smith, Zarosh, Richie Jackson, Benson, Boots, Dean Palmer, Moggins, Adam Moss and more.

The infamous CROSSFIRE HALLOWEEN MASSACRE returns to London on Saturday 27th October with a frenzied skate jam during the day and a boat party at night for all fiends.
As this year marks 100 years of HMS Titanic going down, we invite you to shred the brand new BaySixty6 Skatepark with guest pro teams and then hail the high seas on the Thames for a nautical themed evening of Hip Hop, Rock, Breaks, Drum ‘n’ Bass and more aboard The Battersea Barge with guest DJ’s.

The Skate Jam at Bay Sixty 6 will be open to all from 12pm-5pm and will feature guest pro riders from Witchcraft, Creature (UK), Lovenskate, Kill City, Heroin and Death Skateboards. Expect an open, all day skate jam with best street trick comps in the new hydraulic street section, plus a Zombie bowl sesh in the new 6ft beast. This will be a day of total carnage in the new park where NBD’s will be on display all day from the session.

The address of the boat is The Battersea Barge, Tideway Dock/Tideway Walk/Kirtling St, London, SW8 5PZ. For some, this boat can be hard to find, so look out for a small alleyway next to the Thames Water Company building on Nine Elms Lane (A3205). Walk down this alleyway and at the end of it, you will see the boat. It’s down the road to Battersea Dogs Home, so if we have any casualties to deal with amongst the Zombies that are on board, we will drop you off there at the end of the night.
On a serious note though, knowing that the boat is moored and not sailing, please be aware that your safety is our main concern and also in your own hands at this party. Crossfire will not take responsibility for your actions once you are on-board the Battersea Barge. When you arrive, the likelihood is that the boat will be beached, but by 1am, the tide is scheduled to rise and be 18 metres in depth. Yes, that’s extremely deep. It will also be freezing cold, windy and very dangerous, so look after yourself and your friends and we will all have a fantastic night out as usual.
When you reach the boat you will need to bring your ID to confirm your tickets. If your ticket is in someone else’s name, then make sure you have their full details and booking code as they will match the names on the list at the door. Our friendly security guys will greet you, please give them a hug as they are there for your safety. The boat takes all sorts of credit cards etc but note that there is no cash point on-board and none nearby so plan ahead.
Please note that there will be no tickets available on the door. but tickets may become available on the FB event page if people pull out. See you there!
