North Wales has what looks like one of the best new skateparks in the country up and running this month, built by Carve. The Deeside park found inside Deeside Leisure Centre is 1452 sq m of fun and lines a plenty, not to mention a fantastic looking bowl and mini ramp. Here’s some footage of Alx Green, James Starkey, Danny Cartwright, Cleggy, James Sanders and an edit of Liverpool’s Andrew ‘Evz’ Evans skating the brand new wood on offer.
Address: Deeside Leisure Centre, Chester Road West, Queensferry, Deeside, Flintshire, CH5 1SA
The wonderful work of Wheelscape Skateparks is almost complete at Victoria Park in Hackney. London. The cradle (which is the second full cradle to ever be built in the UK) will have it’s final tweaks this week. The seams will be ground and overspray taken off in preperation for a special memorial message to remember Tom Wood (RIP), the youngest member of Wheelscape’s build crew who unfortunetely passed in a motorbike accident in September. Tom had been working on the cradle itself on the day of the accident so it will be dedicating it to him as Woody’s Cradle. Please give Tom a thought today and also the people who go to work everyday making skateparks for you all as they don’t just pop up.
The park is still not officially open yet. The main contractor still has to connect the drains and landscape the entire area before the official opening in February 2012. We will update you with more news as it comes in. In the meantime, enjoy this photo from this weekend.
London’s skateboarders are waking up to news this morning that there’s movement behind the scenes of the development of Clapham Common‘s rugged land. Famous for its involvement in the Urban Games that used to be held there, the park has deteriorated over the years and locals have been working with the council for funding to develop the area.
Freestyle Skateparks are involved in the pitch that is expected to be built before the end of this year. The image you see on this page is subject to formal approval by Lambeth Council this October, but you can see that the existing tarmac area of 1500m2 is being resurfaced with a high grade tarmac and within this area will sit a circa, 500m2 concrete new build. The surrounding area of the concrete will have numerous isolated forms such as blocks and manual pads so it looks good for South London’s skate scene so far.
Keep your fingers crossed that the council approve the build next month and well done to all involved. Look out for updates on the Freestyle FB page.
Northampton’s skaters are getting closer to getting the skatepark they have waited for, for years. This clip featuring Vans cheese Kevin Charles confirms that harmony has been reached with the council on the location with the beautiful Midsummer Meadow likely to host the park.
This is another victory for local skateboarders who have not stopped asking for somewhere to skate since the closure of Radlands. If you are nearby then look out for the design plans and expect the park to be open in Spring 2012.
Ealing Skatepark is finally open thanks to Freestyle finishing the build. The official opening jam event has been confirmed for Sunday 18th September and can be found north of Ealing Broadway, next to the Gurnell Leisure Centre on Ruislip Rd East and the nearest tube station is Perivale. Click here for google maps information and log the postcode, W13 0AL. All info about the day that will run from 10am can be found on the flyer below.
Welsh locals have launched a petition that will send out a message to the suits out there to keep Newport Skatepark up and running until they have built a suitable replacement. At the moment rumours are circulating that users have been “kept in the dark until now about the proposed demolition of this well used facility“.

Fresh news on the new skatepark build in West Ealing dropped into our inbox just now. It seems the park has had a complete re-design by Freestyle Skateparks from the previous plans so get hyped on this little number to be open on the Bank Holiday weekend in August if the build all goes well.
