It looks like the area of Hampshire is to receive more treats from the concrete designers of Maverick this year following the unleashing of this new design for a new park in Winchester overnight. Exact details will follow but for now this looks like it will be a really good addition and we are loving the brick wall and the rock on the top of the hip.

Manchester has been trying to gain a vert ramp for many years now, and with the upcoming construction of “Beast Rampz Skatepark” in Ardwick this month, Reiss Johnson has set up a Go Fund Me page to help raise the £3000 needed to cover the cost of the build.
“After getting in touch with Tim – the owner of the soon to be skatepark, he informed me a vert ramp could be a possibility. After looking at the building we decided that a vert ramp could fit in however would be very expensive. We costed out the ramp and came to a figure of £6000 to cover materials. A private investor has already covered 50% of the cost and so we need around £3000 for the rest. We are currently in talks with possible sponsors meaning that this number could be even lower soon!”
Beast Rampz Skatepark is scheduled to be finished late spring/early summer 2013.
The legendary R-Cade Skatepark in Redcar is undergoing a complete re-build courtesy of Four One Four Skateparks right now. As you can see from these pics that have emerged this week, the bowl is about to get it’s first skin of ply and the rest of the park is coming along nicely.
R-Cade can be found at Majuba Road, Redcar, Cleveland TS10 5BJ, United Kingdom. Call 01642 483 520 for details of the opening date.
A movement to secure funding to build the first indoor skatepark in London is underway, headed by AnnMarie Lawless. The City’s skate scene has always craved a fully indoor, world-class facility and with semi-indoor options such as BaySixty6, Southbank and Meanwhile on offer, London’s skateboarders know that expensive land rates have always been an issue for those who have dreams of building one.
Let’s hope that this is the first wave of something that takes off and we see more structure behind this story in the Islington Tribune. We will back anyone out there willing to make it work.
Sometimes you have to push the boat out to get what you want, and that’s exactly what a crew of East Lothian skaters did in October to raise money for a new skatepark. With Livingston’s bowl 30 miles away, a bunch of fund raisers got together for a charity skate and managed to drum up £25,000 of cash towards a new park after skating constantly for 53 hours. Teams of three operated in shifts of 3 hours to make this work. Get out there and do it for your local scene.
Thanks to Mark Burrows for highlighting this.
Flo Skateparks have been busy carving wood ready for the opening of a brand new indoor park opposite Lady Bay Retail Park which is in Meadow Lane in Nottingham.
Flo have said this week: “We will be looking to open to the public during the week after Halloween, stay tuned for updates.”
As British skateboard history goes, The Level in Brighton has a few tales from the 33 years it has been in operation. From having a killer vert and mini to the shards of wood that are left to this very day, locals skaters of East Sussex have cherished every minute of this place but it’s time to say goodbye.
This Saturday 13th October is the very last session before the diggers come through there and rebuild the park with Freestyle Skateparks’ skills to erect the new concrete and take it into the future. The final design plans are still bouncing between council, Freestyle and the BHSA so expect work to be carried out in the new year if all goes to plan. Until then, if you want to see this spot off, this Saturday is your chance.
