Well, it’s always good to get these flyers about an incoming skate jam well in advance, but this one came through today from Casual Skateboards.
This Saturday they hit up The House in Sheffield all afternoon, get down there.

The annual Urban Games event went down this weekend at Clapham Common where local London ripper Ross McGouran won this years British Championships with 50-50”s most lethal rider Flynn Trottman in second place and Crossfire’s latest 7-Set winner Adam Howe coming in third riding for Duffs and Plan B.
The new European Championship Comp comp was won by Enrico Petralia, with Ross Mcgouran in 2nd after qualification from the British comp and Australian Enjoi rider Richard Flude got 3rd who also skated the 7-Set comp this month and won cash.
This year’s game of S.K.A.T.E was won by James Gardner. 4 groups of 5 skaters went head to head with 1 winner from each round going through to the semi finals. The rifders that made the cut were Ross McGouran, Chami (Globe rider from Argentina), Richard Flude, and James Gardner. The latter went though to the finals and Gardner made off with £1000 cash with a switch frontside heelflip by all accounts.
The vert skating went off in style on Pete King’s brand new Vauxhall sponsored 14ft ramp, the biggest of it’s kind in the UK. Australian party wrecker Renton Millar schrapled the £1250 with Frenchman Terrence Bougdour and the UK’s Andy Scott coming 2nd and third respectively. The Best Trick on Vert this year was in fact the same result as the actual vert comp with Renton taking first with a kick flip frontside 5-0, Terrence Bougdour with a cab 720′ and Andy Scott with a varial mctwist into fs tailslide shove it the other side. Sasha Muller pulled a kick flip tailgrab to come 4th.
Word on the street says that this year’s Urban Games was better equipt for the skaters this year with seperate street courses, and no nails hanging up everywhere like previous years plus there was even a riders lounge!
But word also says this event was pretty empty and had nothing on previous years figures, could this be the last Urban Games we will see on Clapham Common? Only time will tell.
The Who rocked Hyde Park in front of thousands of people and lifted London into another level. As the sun baked down on a very well organised Hard Rock festival, remaining members Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey had put together a new look line up that included a replacement bass player for John Entwistle, who died of an apparent heart attack on June 27, 2002 in a Las Vegas Hotel Room, reportedly with 2 hookers and a massive load of chore on the bedside table the day before The Who were to begin a U.S. Tour.
Myself and James Sherry had Access all Areas passes and managed to meet Pete Townshend backstage. Now, myself and James love our music and our tastes are actually quite similar, so it’s not a secret to mention that we both agree that The Who are a band that sits at the top of the pile as our most influential band ever. So meeting Townshend in the flesh after so many years of hearing his music was one of the best moments on record. In fact, we were so happy about it that we decided to sneak into the restaurant area and eat Who-food! And what do The Who eat on a Sunday afternoon? A full Lamb roast, with all the trimmings, profiteroles and merangue of course! Take that! On the way out i managed to bump into Paul Weller whose “Setting Sons” album was my first ever, so the day was going to plan somewhat! We saw a new band called “Rose Hill Drive” support earlier on, definitely ones to watch out for..
With Zak Starkey taking care of Keith Moons most famous drum stool and some wonderfully crafted photgraphy and animated sequences, The Who got off to a fabulous start roaring through classic tracks “I Can’t Explain”, “The Seeker”, “Anyway Anyhow Anywhere”, “Who are You?”, “Baba O’Riley”, and “Bargain” from Who’s Next?.
Visually, the show was as good as the musicianship, constantly changing, inviting the audience to soak up the good old days of good old fashioned punch ups, Mods on scooters filling the streets dressed stylishly on trips down to Brighton which became a legendary seaside town from that era from the scene alone.
Tonight, The Who played a bit of everything, with Townshend in between making sure that the message was clear to youth culture – basically write better songs and you will become more famous. It’s true to say though that no bands of this generation will ever play, write or record music at this level, but they also dropped a couple of newer numbers into the classics like “Real Good Looking Boy” – a new song from 2004 and a brand new song whose title evaded us as we were so high on the whole thing.
The wonderful “My Generation” came with an extended jam on the backend, the crowd were going mental where we were standing! But there was room for more and the set also was made up of “Drowned” and the wonderful “Love…Reign Over Me” from Quadrophenia, “Kids are Alright”, “Won’t Get Fooled Again”, “Behind Blue Eyes”, and “Substitute”, until the final crescendo of “See Me Feel Me”, “Pinball Wizard” and “Amazing Journey” that represented the tunes from Tommy.
It was a magnificant show and you could tell that Daltery and Townshend were in their element here. This will go down as one fo the best shows ever, and if you did not manager to get there, you can tune into www.thewholive.tv and watch thier shows whenever you want.
Check them out as these guys are fully webbed up and waiting for you to drop by.

Talk of the first Circa video started way back when the team included heavy hitters like Chad Muska, Jaime Thomas and Mark Appleyard.
The chance of a DVD with footage from those three was a sure shot success with the kids, but something went horribly wrong… First Chad went Miami MIA, then Jaime said goodbye and started up his own operation, then Mark travelled the world and thought his feet could be cushioned elsewhere.
With their top players disbanded, Circa looked like it was about to throw in the towel. Somehow the shoe company stayed afloat and gradually built back a team that as a result is a real cross section of skate genres with something for everyone (except ramp riders…).
The prolonged announcement of videos soon to be released doesn’t settle well within the industry because team changes can make or break a project, as Circa knows all too well, so with their new flock of representatives Circa seized the opportunity – It’s Time.
I seriously doubted Circa before they dropped this DVD, and the first echos from the fore front were anything short of lukewarm… Not a good sign when you are releasing your first ever video. Well, It’s Time dropped onto my doormat and I gave it a first viewing; To be honest, I could see where the uninspired reactions were coming from. You see, Circa runs the following team – Jon Allie, Dennis Durrant, Tony Tave, Windsor James, Sierra Fellers, Pete Ramondetta, Colt Cannon and Adrian Lopez. Each one of those skaters can hold it down alone, but a couple of them are better known for hammering out their sections, rather than splashing out on a little variety.
When Jon Allie bursts onto the screen with picture perfect frontside flip tailslides and kickflip backside lipslides, a few tweaked leaps of faith and big rotations over bigger gaps, you have a strange feeling you’ve seen it all before. I take my hat off to the lad, but would it really hurt to push a little, or skate some transition..? So, like I said, the first comments about the Circa DVD viewing like a hammerfest of yesteryear weren’t really off the mark.
Jon’s section ends with a total banger and Sierra Fellers picks up the gauntlet. Sierra has been running ripples through the industry for the last couple of years as one of these Uber-ams that push the envelope of gnarliness with text book technique. It’s trua that Sierra is a beast, but not only normal but switch too! Big switch flips and big switch ollies pepper this part and have you slightly shocked at the abilities of this virtually unknown kid. With this part Sierra steps it up to the big-time.
Just before we catch a glimpse of Windsor James eating proverbial ‘shit’ for the cameraman, OG Circa member Adrian Lopez has a roll about on screen. I’ve never met Adrian but I gather he’s a shy guy. You wouldn’t think so when you see the stuff he skates or the look in his eyes when he prepares himself for the crunch. However, Adrian’s part slides in synch with Jon’s opener in that this part could easily have appeared three years ago and no-one would have noticed. I heard Adrian has a lot of MySpace friends, maybe they can rate this part better than me, a guy who gets out there and skates..?
Enough bitterness and back to the show! Windsor James escapes death on a big rail and proceeds to use his cat-like skills to tame and maim a few gaps and rails. Windsor is a very smooth skater, but I don’t think this part does him justice even if the soul track has you tapping your feet to the beat. In the image-based guidelines of the skate industry, a XXL wearing dude dropping hammers is definitely worth watching.
And so is badman Dennis Durrant. You might recognize Dennis from his premier 360 flip noseblunt slide Popwar ad on the flip side of Chris Cole’s attempt. Dennis is from Australia and has a pair of skippy feet that pop and flick his board very nicely. Dennis shines out like a pearl in this wish wash waters of amateur skateboarding. Place a star next to his name next time you see it.
Someone else who is a star is Mr.Colt Cannon. Colt doesn’t get too complicated with his skate trick selection, but whatever he does execute, he executes to the T. here are three reasons you need to watch Colt’s section repeatedly: First the intro- I don’t know where the punchline fell with that story, but it definitely wasn’t caught on tape. Second, the song Colt chose is a bit quirky and if you’re patient you’ll see that it works quite well with the skating. And Third, Colt’s last few tricks are banging- especially the long nose grind down the handrail. Colt’s got better balance than Alan Sugar’s bank account.
Time for another comic interlude and this time it’s pro cameos introducing Super am and new Element pro, Tony Tave. This kid broke onto the scene via a huge switch frontside heelflip over the double set at the Etnies Lake Forest skatepark. Tony’s got pop and a whole lot of shock for you with this solid 4 minute section. If you think Tony’s only got hefty hammers to offer, you’re right, but you don’t see many kids swinging swords like this everyday.
Finally, It’s Time concludes with Bay Area badass, Pete Ramondetta. Pete is gnarly as hell with fast snaps and back to back hammers. I like to think of Pete as one of the last Radical skaters out there, that don’t worry about image or fame and just get the job done. Plus, Ramondetta won’t be stamped with the billy-bad boy stamp of strictly rails. I spotted a 360 double flip and a sweet no comply flip combo in there. At the end it’s all about the ender though – Stick that in your pipe Jaime!
So, to brush this review up and post up a sales pitch for Circa, I’d say that if you like it big and fast, It’s Time will have you satisfied. If the whole hammerfest- deathlens FTSA technique bores you, then just watch this for free with shoes at skater owned shops and visit www.circafootwear.com for all the inside scoops.

It’s July 2006 and the retarded voices of DJ James Sherry and Zac Slack are back to give you another dose of metal big enough for you to be travelling back to the clinic for a check up.
This month’s show comes fresh after the Download Festival where the duo played records for 10 hours a day.
Think yourself lucky they are back on the air as the festival left it’s mark on the internets most “don’t give a shit” DJ’s and they finally made it home even though they crawled back in pieces. Enjoy this selection of fresh and old tracks and if you would like to request a tune for the next show, click here.
The Heavy Shit Show has now become a talking point in the world of Metal, and rightly so. We have these brand new, ltd edition Heavy Shit t-shirts for you to wear. Click here to see them, and here to ask for one.

I have a lot of time for the simpler things in life and the VOX Troopers are a pristine example of how simple life could be. The shoe is a tasteful blend between the Rowley 1’s and Fallen’s Chief model, not a bad mix, dare I say!
The design of this particular model suits nobody more than the everyday skateboarder who endeavours for a bit of transition as well as being wild on the streets. I wouldn’t recommend these for stairs and drops, but they are great for hips, bars, ledges, banks or anything that’s not too strenuous on the heels as their cushioning leaves room for improvement. The vulcanized soles are grippy and will keep you attached to you skateboard like snot sticks to a woollen blanket! This will wear off gradually, but that’s bound to happen to any skate shoe and these have lasted me for a good couple of months!
The shoe has a very stable hold on your foot and the suede uppers takes quite a while to soften up, but it does and that’s what counts! The side panels sport embroided logo’s, which blends in craft fully with the rest of the shoe’s design. Under your laces rests a ventilated mesh tongue with perforations to keep your toes ventilated and smelling fresh, which is a good thing, considering they are protected by thermo plastic reinforced toe box.
VOX Troopers are decent and I’d say you definitely get what you paid for, a stylish design with simple features to suit your everyday needs…what more do want?! This obviously does not apply to D3 lovers. (Riders of the storm!)

If ever you get invited to Winnipeg, Canada, say “Yes!” The city is about to open a brand new concrete skatepark the Forks that spans 44,000 square feet and has replicas and inspirations drawn from Barcelona, Japan and San Fransisco. Top the ledges with granite and spin out on the 17 foot cradle and you’re only halfway there. A special feature to the Newline designed park is a “magic carpet” concrete wave thing!?!
