None More Punk May 07

Last week was hell for me. I was sitting here typing up playlists for the site, realising i was skint. My favourite squeeze was on my case over something or nothing and the world seemed to be demanding my presence. In these situations there is only one solution, one angle where you know without any outside influence your entire life is transformed and back where it belongs within 2 or 3 minutes. A feeling of power descends over the weakness and the troubles are lifted within one bar, one crash of a cymbal, one 3 chord riff.

I’m talking punk rock, hardcore, whatever you wish for, never forget, it is always there to rescue you from the daily grind, just make sure you defend your stash of vinyl so no one else takes it, it’s a powerful thing.

Welcome back to the None More Punk Show with DJ’s Zac Slack and James Sherry. This latest show should keep you out of trouble for the next hour, just don’t tell anyone else about it and click the flag for instant stream. None More Punk July 06

Special Punk Psych-Out Show!

Welcome to the mind melt. We come to turn your minds to jelly. This month None More Punk has gone psychedelic and we’re diving headlong into a world of fuzz box guitars, lurching garage rock and LSD inspired lunacy.

Strap yourself in and let DJ’s James Sherry and Zac Slack dose you up with an hour of the best proto-punk psychedelia you could hope to hear.

Much of the show is derived from the classic ‘Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era 1965-1968‘ boxset on Rhino Records.

This four CD set collects the best singles from this period that somehow slipped under the mainstream radar, or were just too damn weird. This music was a huge influence on the first wave of punk and shares many similarities, capturing the same reckless energy and drug-crazed rebellion as The Damned, Sex Pistols etc. Fuck the history lesson though, this is just great music, the when’s and where’s don’t really matter, just turn it up and drop yourself a cheeky half. More info at: www.rhino.com

This show is dedicated to Syd Barrett, the original founder of Pink Floyd who passed away recently. Syd took the raw sounds of garage rock and propelled them into another dimension, changing the course of music forever. Despite having not set foot in a recording studio since 1974, his importance in music is unsurpassed. This one’s for you Syd, you legend…

Remember when you were young,
you shone like the sun
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there’s a look in your eyes
like black holes in the sky,
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of
childhood and stardom,
blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for far away laughter,
come on you stranger,
you legend, you martyr and shine….

Crossfire Psych Out Playlist:

1. The MC5 – Gotta Keep Moving (Elektra)
2. The Sonics – The Witch (Rhino)
3. The Creation – Biff Bang Pow! (Rhino)
