If you were watching Slayer a week back at Sonisphere festival you would remember that they ripped the place apart with a barrage of classics. This week the internet has another classic cover of the band’s seminal Angel of Death track, this time in 8-Bit. Listen to this and look forward to somebody designing a Slayer video game soon.

Company Flow are great!

We saw Company Flow playing a one-off show at this weekend’s ATP Festival, curated by Portishead and they showed they’d lost none of their prowess in the decade they’ve been split up.

Dead Kennedys speak out against Heineken

Dead Kennedys have dished out some verbals against Heineken.

The beer company used the band’s classic track Too Drunk To Fuck on an advert, which was this month taken down by an industry watchdog for promoting binge drinking and now the band have said the following about it all:

“Dead Kennedys emphatically deny that they ever gave Heineken permission to use the song. The band’s attorneys have contacted Heineken to address the un-authorized use. Dead Kennedys have never authorized any company to use this song or any of the band’s songs to promote a consumer product (let alone the consumption of alcohol) in this or any advertisement.”

Black Milk to work with Danny Brown

Producer and rapper Black Milk has announced that he will be working with Danny Brown on a collaborative project.

Milk, whose group Random Axe released their album this year, had worked with Danny Brown on his [Milk’s] solo album Album of the Year and they decided to make an entire album together. Speaking on the collaboration, he said:

“There’s probably going to six or seven cuts on there, just trying to keep momentum going…[‘Black and Brown’] was one of people’s favorite joints from [Album of The Year], so I was just thinking lets throw out a couple joints in an EP. Plus, we have a video coming out for ‘Black and Brown’ too.”

The band whose Bakesale album has been remastered and reissued [out now], will hit these shores in August:

Off! hit the UK for live dates

OFF! will be hitting the UK as part of their European tour in August.

As well as playing dates with Trash Talk and Fucked Up, the band which features Keith Morris (Black Flag/Circle Jerks), Dimitri Coats (Burning Brides), Steven McDonald (Redd Kross) and Mario Rubalcaba (Earthless/Hot Snakes/Rocket From the Crypt) will be hitting Hevy Festival and Reading and Leeds.

Soulwax reveal Soulwaxmas!

Soulwax have announced details of their fifth annual Soulwaxmas.

This year’s event will take place on December 16th at the Brixton Academy from 9pm to 3am and tickets will cost £26.50, on sale from Friday 22nd July here.

In addition, their Radio Soulwax app has been a huge success, with over one million streams online. Forthcoming on the app are Hardcore or Die, This Is Belgium Part 2. and the brilliantly titled Axe Attack, where users have to try and guess the artist behind the riff before it’s revealed.

Big Boi working on new solo album

Big Boi has announced he is well underway working on his new solo album.

The Outkast man, who released Sir Lucious Left Foot… last year to much acclaim is 17 songs into the follow-up, which he describes as “S-A-X-X-X triple unadulterated funk to the extremest level”. Sounds awesome. He also said:

“I’m seventeen songs into it now, everything is sounding phenomenal. I could put it out tomorrow if I wanted to, but I’mma marinate on it, because I’m on the road. I feel good about it, all the music’s sounding great… I’m just really stayin busy out here killin it”.

We’re massive fans here at Crossfire, so we cannot wait for this new on. Whilst we wait, let’s remind ourselves why he’s so awesome:

Black Lips have unveiled their new video and it’s a winner.

The video is for New Direction, taken from their latest album Arabia Mountain and shows the band flying through the air with the greatest of ease. You want snow-capped mountains? You got it. You want lush green valleys? You got that too.Throw in some mid-air tricks, a starry desert night and a cuddly toy Monkey and you’ve got one of the most fun videos we’ve seen in ages.
