Tyler, The Creator speaks out against U2’s new album

tyler_bono

U2 invaded your iTunes library last week with their ironically titled new record Songs Of Innocence. The 11 track album crept inside your computer overnight without warning. How would you notice? How many other bands begin with “U” apart from UB40? And who in their right mind has UB40 on their iTunes? The next time you’re scrolling down, making you way to The Velvet Undergound, you’ll be greeted by Bono & Co, waving their innocence right in your face. Don’t you wish you’d read those terms and conditions when you signed up for iTunes now?

Unsuprisingly, these actions caused quite a stir with, well, everyone that doesn’t like U2. Which happens to be quite a lot of people. Tyler, The Creator is but one of many who chose to voice their opinions on the matter through Twitter. See his reactions below.

Grandmaster Flash caught in a Facebook mix up

grandmaster_flash

There’s been a significant rise in the amount of pensioners turning to Facebook in recent years. With the ever expanding world of smartphones and 4G internet, everyone’s online. Even your Nan. And look at the fuss she’s caused for hip hop’s favourite messenger, Grandmaster Flash.

The auto-fill function when posting statuses has unfortunately screwed over a large ammount of Grandmothers across the globe, causing them to accidently tag themselves as the Grandmaster himself when signing off a status update. Naturally, there’s a tumblr page dedicated to this tom-foolery, check out the aptly titled Love, Grampa and Grandmaster Flash.

Head to Flash’s own Facebook page to watch his video response to the grandparents of the world.

Gengahr_STEVEGULLICK

Following the well deserved hype and acclaim that Gengahr‘s debut track ‘Fill My Gums With Blood’ received, it is with great excitement that we find the North London four piece set to drop their new single ‘Powder’ on October 27th via Transgressive Records.

Keeping in check with their delicate dream-boat melodies, ‘Powder’ adds a little grit to their sun soaked appeal, with a Screamadelica-esque guitar riff landing straight on the bullseye. Stream this fantastic single below.

The Cockpit in Leeds to close after 20 years

cockpit

After 20 years as an integral part of the music scene in Leeds and the North of England, The Cockpit announced yesterday that it has been forced to shut it’s doors permanently due to severe maintenance work the building requires.

Having temporarily closed back in July to carry out maintenance, yesterday the venue published this statement on their official websiteIt is with great regret that we have to announce the permanent closure of the Cockpit. After 20 great years as an integral pillar of the Leeds music scene we have decided that it is no longer viable to deliver you the level of service you deserve with the building in it’s current condition.

Despite this sad news, the current resident promoters at the venue will continue to book and promote artists in and around Leeds. In addition, The Cockpit are in the process of relocating all upcoming gigs to alternative venues with any tickets already purchased remaining valid.
