Tobin Yelland has uploaded his short film this week on the art life of Bobby Puleo shot originally back in 2005.

Assault Skateboards are scraping the walls with Black Flag in this new promo for their new video. Greg Harbour, Wildman, Demarcus James, Casey Meyer, Donger, Chris Livingston, Ace Pelka , Ricky Winsor and OFF! drummer Mario Rubalcaba are all in the mix.

After many years repping Volcom, Liverpool legend Geoff Rowley has switched threads to his long time shoe sponsor Vans Apparel this week.

“Geoff’s been an inspiration to skateboarders all over the world and his valued input on our skate shoes has led directly to innovations that have enabled progression in skateboard footwear for years,” said Vans’ Justin Regan. “We couldn’t be more thrilled now to expand the relationship into building the best skatewear, too.”

Tony Hawk was obviously invited to ollie a moving mini in his latest advertising stunt. Self preservation society indeed.

Dylan Rieder‘s incredible career to date has had a lot of highlights, so much so, that one guy has decided to give him the ‘best of’ already – even though his best days are probably still to come.

No official announcement has been made yet but with Gilbert Crockett uploading an image of an Alien funeral to his instagram account and Kerry Getz posting the words below on the same network, it looks as though Alien Workshop is going through some turmoil after 24 years of incredible service – despite a huge effort from Rob Dyrdek to keep it running,

“My last box of boards from DNA distribution was all Alien Workshop. I now know why. It’s very sad to see a company like this go out of business that was such a huge part of Skateboarding and the growth of it. I still don’t wanna believe it, but I wish everyone over at the DNA the best and I wanna THANK everyone that was apart of it and anyone who helped me out over the past 14 years. It was an incredible journey and I enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you!”

Skate videographer Bill Weiss also added words on insta this weekend: “Say it ain’t so :( If what in hearing about the Alien Workshop being out of business is true than I’m truly devastated. Workshop is one of the most genuine beautiful things to ever come out of skateboarding led by some of the most caring and real people I’ve ever had the pleasure to know and call friends. Say it ain’t so. #alienworkshopfan”

With Jason Dill, AVE, Dylan Rieder, Grant Taylor, John Fitzgerald and Donovon Piscopo all leaving AW for pastures new recently, Workshop’s team has been hit hard, and as you can probably imagine, any skateboard company costs a small fortune to run.

The future of AW’s sister company Habitat Skateboards may look brighter since founder and creative director Joe Castrucci posted a Pheonix on this instagram account this weekend. Let’s hope that the Pheonix will rise for both brands and the legacy that they have delivered us over the years is restored and can excite new generations to come.

The DVS team went there via Panama and Peru and came back with a bunch of footage featuring Torey Pudwill, Luis Tolentino, John Nguyen, Daewon Song, Marty Murawski, Zack Wallin, Chico Brenes and the one and only Paul Shier. The first of two new skateparks being built in Cambridge by Canvas has opened officially this weekend in time for the summer sessions ahead. You can find it at Nuns Way Recreation Ground on Kirkwood Road in Cambridge. Map here.

We will have updates on the Cherry Hinton skatepark build soon but sources tell us that work has started on it today and it’s likely that it will be completed and ready to skate by mid June. You can see the revised design at the bottom of this post.

Until then, enjoy this first Canvas build. It’s a small budget park built with quality in mind and it will enable new sessions for locals from today onwards. So find it, shred it and enjoy it.
