Independent Trucks – Reynolds 129 Hi

When I first set eyes on these golden ivory beauties, and was simultaneously informed that they were mine free of charge, and that all I had to do was skate and then write this nonsensical piece of garbage about them, you can probably imagine that my tongue suddenly become engorged and dropped to the floor just like those worryingly carthatic American cartoons.

All I wanted to do was get them on my deck, which was now quivering with excitement at the mere thought of grinding edges like ice again. Except, it was fucking raining. Twenty four cunting seven. I’d walk outside, hoping that I can give these a go, but instead I’m on the recieving end of a barrage of water droplets falling onto my skin, and then massaging themselves in, just to rub it in even more.

As I was currently in a new city, I had no fucking idea where any sheltered ledge spots were hiding. So instead, I was in a constant state of torture, being glared at my poor neglected trucks. But the wait, was more than worth it, I can tell you that. Not only do these trucks look like a devilish minx on your skateboard, but they skate beautifully. Get a nice ledge and session to your hearts content, these fellers are light, white, and slippery as vanilla ice. They’ve even got the bling bling gold attachment, so you can feel as pimped out as the Boss himself when doing frontside slashes. You may not be frontside flipping over any obstacle in sight just yet, but get your slash on with these, and you’ll be feeling more radical than any frontrocking gully bad man.

Accompanied with the two pro models, Koston and Reynolds respectively, are a couple of simple, lovely looking tees. What more can you ask for?

Pogosticks are shit

If it isn’t bloody microscooters getting in your way at skateparks, then it’s some kid being a dick on a pogostick.

Or should that be pogodick.

Some kid managed to fall into the main bowl in Cedaredge, USA and smack his head pretty bad because he was fucking around on a pogostick, so the local council have closed the park. The reaction to the closure has not been good, but read the full story for more info.

Leave it in the 80’s mate.

90’s Blind in Paris

Get your ‘rewind’ button at the ready. The Gonz, Jason Lee and Danny Way skate Paris as Spike Jonze mans the camera.

Some of this tape ended up in ‘Video Days’ but most hit the cutting room floor. It’s hard to imagine this was going down over 15 years ago. This footage appears in the new Man Who Souled The World video, watch out for a review of that very soon on Crossfire.

Globe – Chris Haslam Sabaton

Chris Haslam finally gets a fucking shoe out! Woohoo! And i tell you another thing, it’s on Globe and it’s a peach.

Apparently ‘Sabaton‘ means armored foot protection but this is no clog, it’s another take on the classic magnum but it’s a beauty. The first thing you will notice is the fact that the leather is cracked and it’s a lovely touch, quite unusual and feels like your cats tongue. (I wouldn’t though as it would not be as good.)

The speil says that this shoe has a Shock Guard ICS footbed protection system, when i rode them this weekend, i could feel a decent sole with some seriously good grip as you get with all current Globe vulcanized foot huggers.

Haslam has had his chance to get his name out there and he has come up with a bloody good skate shoe. They are durable, absorbs shock and more to the point they look fresh on your tootsies, even though the bear faced hippie has managed to sneak corduroy into the mix!

I really think Globe have got themselves a rep now for great skate shoes and this just adds to the plaudits at the end of this year, go get these today.

Rocco documentary is out

The Whytehouse production of the most recent documentary “The Man Who Souled The World” has been released this week in all decent skate shops and is a must have.

We screened it on Sunday night over a beer and it has everything you need to know about Steve Rocco, the skater who decided to take out the corperate skate industry and replace it with anarchy.

There will be a full review on this crappy site next week once we write it up.

View the trailer below or visit www.themanwho.com for all the spiel.
