Hubba resurrection…

You probably figured this one out already, but an infamous ledge spot in San Francisco was the origin of the term ‘Hubba’ that has since spread like a virus through comps, videos and hammer hungry kids.

Well the hollowed grounds of Hubba Hideout seem to be skateable again. For a brief run down of ABDs (lame-ass!), watch this and learn.

Bored of Southsea

We can’t emphasize how important it is to support your local skater owned shops, so if you live in Southsea, make sure you take a look at Bored Skateshop.

I guess the boys got bored and actually did some very good work on launching anew website for their store where you can stock up on all the best national and international skate goodies, but also check out photos of the local spots, footage from various UK companies (this week is Fiasco with some sick footy!), and catch up on any local news like the opening of Whitely skate park on October 28th. How many chain stores offer all that? Exactly.

Gonz show in London

Skateboarder, dyslexic, artiste, invert lord, strange man – Mark Gonzales is due to exhibit some of his work including unseen pieces next weekend in London, at the DPMHI gallery. Apparently his Priest character and Megga American Communion work will be on show which sounds very good indeed. The private showing is on Friday 20th October from 7-9pm, then the show opens to the public on the evening of Saturday 21st October.

Ali Boulala laced up

Ali Boulala presented his first pro model shoe to me at the Etnies 20th Anniversary party in Paris, and to tell you the truth I like it a lot more than whatever previous models Ali has had elsewhere.

The lace, the ruby, the simplicity all add up to something fashionable and functional. Neither outweighs the other. Read what Ali had to say about his Etnies shoe here.

Krooked Team Board

Krooked BoardThis board from Krooked is a standard team model, its about 7.75 x 31.75 inches with a medium depth concave and has all the characteristics you’d expect from a board out of Deluxe.

Deluxe wood always seems to be just right for me, a nice stiffness and pop, without overdoing it so you’re afraid of snapping the board any second.

I set this board up with some Indy 139’s, some reds and some 54mm spitfires. (You can obviously I trust Deluxe products). This setup was a nice mix for skating both street and park with the slightly longer board and wide trucks providing a smooth controlled ride comparable to a bigger 8 inch board whilst still retaining its maneuverability for flip tricks and skating street.

I have been riding this board for about 3 weeks now and its still kept its pop even after a lot of abuse. I’d highly recommend this board to anyone wanting a board for a variety of terrains. I’d happily give it 8/10.

Adrian.

RVCA mini carnage

Damn! Finally a mini ramp comp where the winners circle actually means something. RVCA organised a sick comp last week with Art by Vegan Hessian Ed Templeton and music by Nightime Shadow, Neckface.

There was $5000 up for grabs and needless to say the skaters started grabbing, slashing and thrashing about to win the loot.

In the end it was the very unexpected but also very underrated talent of Stu Graham that placed 3rd behind Uber skills Mark Appleyard in 2nd position and Texan beast Ben Schroeder (Dig in the history books for more references!) who took top honours. The skating was off the hook, so peep this footage courtesy of Thrasher Magazine and be blown away!

More Enjoi

Enjoi dropped one of the best videos for 2006 – Bag Of Suck, without a doubt, and if that wasn’t enough the boys have decided to release a promo clip shot during the making of Bag Of Suck.

Have you heard about Enjoi’s link to Global terrorism and debauched youth..? Someone seems to think so in any case…

Antiz in Oregon

We just received a load of amazing photos from the Antiz boys taken during their trip through Oregon. Keeping it real, hotels were only used to charge camera batteries and abuse the authorised number of people per room, food was borrowed from local eateries and David ‘Roest’ Martelleur managed to party for 10 days straight before getting lost all by himself in the wild outback of Oregon.

We anticipate the next Antiz video with bated breath – due to drop sometime around the New Year so music rights can be cleared. In the meantime, here’s a fun list of facts from their trip:

Distance covered – 1800 miles
Number of parks skated – 15
Number of Chicks – 0
Number of dicks – 12
Number of cars – 2
Number of tents – 3
Number of people asleep in a double room – 10
Number of beers drunk – 1483
Number of bags of skunk – 2
Number of stink ass farts – 4883
