“The Brains didn’t go to college… CBGB’s was our university. Hilly was our head master. And although the music died back in the 50’s with Holly and Richie…the punk lives with Hilly, Joey, Stiv and CB’s. Forever is the spirit of Hilly and his punk rock. Thanks Hilly, we will all ways remember you as the don of punk and the king of the bowery…that serious looking nice guy….Jah lives… the Bad Brains.”

Machine Head v Crap Music

Machine Head have lashed out at fans of Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance following their victory at the Kerrang awards. The statement said:

“[Our win] has apparently cut deep with fans of both bands, prompting a flood of angry whining and sad-faced emoticons on the Kerrang! message boards. Machine Head’s upset victory over the multi-platinum softcore acts sent their inherently sensitive fans into an emotional frenzy, building into a tizzy of unparalleled proportions.

Wrought with dismay, polished fingernails the world over lashed out at the band and metal as a whole with diatribes the likes of “MCR really should have won!!! I’m mad now!!!!”, “what a load of shit, who the fuck listens to them?” and “Stupid Machine Head!!”, at times stooping so low as to say the competition was fixed, and often gravely endangering the integrity of their carefully sideswept hair with posts like “I H8 METAL, I H8 METAL, I H8 METAL, I H8 METAL, I H8 METAL, I H8 METAL, I H8 METAL”.

We love you Machine Head.

Protest The Hero album details

Protest The Hero have announced details of their new album.

Fortress will be out in November and will feature 10 tracks which singer Rody Walker said is a natural progression for the band. He went on to say:

“I am of the belief a lot of the people who work for us were hoping for a stab at a more commercially viable album, however we wrote what we wanted without linear boundaries and created something less commercial than ever. Some fans of the band will hate it. And some people who hate the band will love it. All others can rot.”

Punk House incoming!

Thurston Moore has collaborated on a book of photographs called Punk House.

The Sonic Youth frontman worked alongside photographer Abby Banks documenting the “punk house”:

“[A house where] like-minded punks cram into a house usually intended to accommodate two or three people, resulting in low rent and, thus, extended hours of leisure for the residents to pursue their true interests.

[It] features anarchist warehouses, feminist collectives, tree houses, workshops, artists’ studios, self-sufficient farms, hobo squats, community centers, basement bike shops, speakeasies, and all varieties of communal living spaces.”

The book is due out in October.
