Watch: Diplo and Lil’ Jon

Diplo and Lil’ Jon have collaborated on a track that boasts a video that’s suitable for any higher education lecture on the massive cultural swill of influence that the Y Generation and iGeneration are all slurping up like pigs.

The song is typically bassy beats and ‘haters gonna hate’ dismissals from Lil’ Jon set to a monsterously fun video seeing the duo battle it out in various video game arenas.

Check out the fairly unambiguous cover art over there on the right too. Awesome.

Crystal Castles work with Robert Smith

How about this for a surprise this year, an interesting collaboration that doesn’t feature Kanye West, Raekwon or Ms. Dynamite? Not that we’re hating on any of that but it’s nice to see something a little different. Breakthrough chip-punks Crystal Castles have teamed up with the legendary Robert Smith of The Cure for their next single, a new version of ‘Not In Love‘.

The single will be released on December 6th through Fiction Records.

Until then check out the second video to come from their album ‘II‘ which was released earlier this year. Watch the official video for  ‘Baptism‘ below…

Download: Lykke Li ‘Get Some’

Lykke Li is getting prematurely generous for the holiday season by giving away a track with a particularly awesome title and even more awesome lyrics. ‘Get Some‘ sees Ms Li subvert the male gaze by placing a blindfold over the listener, saying ‘don’t pull your pants before I go down’ and ‘I’m your prostitute, you gon’ get some’. Wicked.

Peep the handy lyrics and get some yourself for free below.

Watch: Mark Sultan ‘Status’

As previously reported, Mark Sultan will be releasing his new album ‘$’ on November 8th through Last Gang Records.

The first video to come from the album is for ‘Status‘ and it’s pretty special in a totally NSFW way. This cut of garage rock is set to sci-fi and cartoon visual pastiche, with plenty of stuff to get simultaneously nostalgic and psychadelic about.

Watch it below. Contains a couple of scenes you probably won’t want your supervisor catching a glimpse of, unless they’re into that sort of thing. For more King Khan and BBQ related goodness check out our Tune of the Day.

Tune of the Day: King Khan and BBQ Show – Fish Fight

They may have split up recently but King Khan and BBQ certainly laid down a filthy garage legacy before calling it quits.

Allegedly the pair famous for their lo-fi doo wop ended their musical journey at the Sydney Opera House this year after being hand picked by Lou Reed and Lauri Anderson to play two shows at the Vivid Live festival they were curating.

The good news is that Mark Sultan (aka BBQ) is back with a solo album called ‘$’, look out for its release on November 8th.

New York three-piece fun. are due to release their new single ‘Walking The Dog‘ on November 22nd, coinciding with their upcoming UK dates supporting Paramore on their arena tour.

Daft Punk play with Phoenix in New York

In one of the most unexpected live appearances of the year, french electronic pioneers Daft Punk appeared alongside Phoenix at Madison Square Garden last night during the encore.

Phoenix played an extended version of their popular ‘1901‘ to close their set, during which Thomas and Guy-Manuel were present in their iconic robot outfits playing a medley of their own songs as part of a live remix/mash-up.

Daft Punk played excerpts from Around The World, Harder Better Faster Stronger, Together, Rock ‘n’ Roll and more.

Understandably, this unannounced performance set the Twittersphere on fire last night – not only for the idea of two of France’s most popular artists playing on-stage at the same time, but the first time in a considerable while in which Phoenix guitarist Laurent Brancowitz has appeared alongside his former bandmates (in the short-lived Beach Boys-inspired Darlin’) who later recorded the song ‘Phoenix‘ as Daft Punk as a tribute to his band’s success.

Watch a clip of their performance below and head over here to read an interview we did with Phoenix earlier this year.
