The Fugazi Live Series is now open

Fugazi‘s live series archive is now open with 130 shows now available to buy online at Dischord. The very first page has shows from Birmingham, Leeds and London gigs and if you delve even further you can find all sorts of other recordings from a plethora of appearances around the globe.

The recordings are priced at $5 each but the band have also given you a choice to make your own donation and leave a message with them personally which is cool.

Sign up, claim a free download and get stuck in to these shows and then watch this Snub TV footage of the band in December 1988 with interviews and footage from their first Boston Arms show. The UK desperately needs another Snub TV style show, programming like this is so sorely missed.

Fugazi to open live show archive this Thursday

Fugazi are one of the best bands to ever come out of America and stay true to their roots and this Thursday, fans will be able to purchase live recordings on a concerts website that will showcase hundreds of mostly high quality recordings of live shows recorded over the last 15 years.

Fugazi played over 1000 concerts, covering all fifty United States, Europe, Australia, South America, Japan and many points in between. Over 800 of these shows were recorded by the band’s sound engineers, often on high quality recording gear. The first 130 will be live this Thursday alongside flyers, ticket stubbs, photos, mp3s and more.

If you are expecting polished, perfect versions of all of the shows, hold that thought. In true Fugazi style, they will be as they were when recorded and not edited in any way. Guitarist Guy Picciotto told the NY Times recently that: “It’s all there, and it’s not cleaned up. You get what you get.

Log into Dischord Records today and get signed up for the updates and an account where you can purchase the recordings as they drop. You will receive 2 free MP3’s as a taster on sign up from Egg Hunt too.

The Dwarves explode in London

the_dwarvesRaucous US punk band The Dwarves rolled back in to the UK last night and tore Camden’s Underworld a new ring-piece.

As soon as the band kicked off their set, the pit exploded with people flying everywhere and continued throughout the night. Singer, Blag found a random ‘performance artist’ on his travels – a stripper armed with an angle grinder and plenty of blood that soaked the audience on the last song. They also played a Ting Tings cover as Ting Tings cover as giant Hells Angels moshed amongst the rabble.

Look out for them ripping the UK up on this winter tour playing tracks from their great new album at the following dates:

Nov 20th – Thekla, Bristol (£11.00)
Nov 22nd – Manchester Moho Live, Manchester (£10.00)
Nov 23rd – Rock City, Nottingham (£11.00)
Nov 24th – Ivory Blacks, Glasgow (£10.00)

What happens when band members get old? They have kids like everyone else, their tattoos start to fade and they have a routine like everyone else to deal with whilst still trying to hang onto their youth. The Other F Word movie that is gaining speed in the US this month documents a huge amount of punk and hardcore bands on how they are coping with their new family lifestyles and looks like it will be essential viewing.

The cast includes Tony Adolescent, Fat Mike from NOFX, Flea from the Chili Peppers, Lars Frederiksen from Rancid, Epitaph Records’ big cheese Brett Gurewitz, ex Pennywise singer Jim Lindberg, Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh, OG skaters Duane Peters and Tony Hawk, Sideonedummy Records’ Joe Sib, Ron Reyes from Black Flag and many more.

Let’s hope that this reaches the UK for a screening soon.
