Are The Strokes finished?

Alert Hammond Jr has admitted The Strokes’ plans are unknown at the moment.

The guitarist, who has released his solo album Yours To Keep last year, said that the band are currently “hanging out and doing life things.” When asked if the band would get together for a follow up to last year’s First Impressions Of Earth, he said:

“I have no idea. I always get in trouble when I speculate about stuff. So I have zero clue. If I did know I would tell you, though.”

In the meantime, Hammond Jr has written a script and will be touring his solo album around the States.

Faster Than Sound returns

Faster Than Sound, an experimental connection between music and digital art, is back.

Having made its first foray in June 2006, Faster Than Sound returns to Bentwaters airbase in June, as artists look to collaborate and blur the lines between electronic music and interactive visual art.

With attractions like a wireless walk in the woods, illuminated cold war buildings and an inspiring sound-fuelled dome, Faster Than Sound is going to be something definitely worth checking out.

With Plaid taking part, amongst a large number of others includinng Colleen, Dat Politics and ยต-Ziq, it promises to be a very interesting experiment.

ODB in legal wrangles…Again!

Problems are continuing to arise over the finances of the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

Two women with children by the rapper appeared in a Brooklyn Court to complain about the handling of ODB’s estate. Suzy Wong and Cheryl McCall both have 11 year old sons, fathered by ODB according to reports, and they say that his widow and estate administrator, Icelene Jones, has blown over $225,000 since he died in 2004. Wong said:

“We wanted to make objections to Icelene being the administrator, and her accounting. She’s playing the sorry and sad widow, but the truth is they hadn’t had a marital relationship for 12 years.”

The problems don’t stop their either as the posthumous album A Son Unique is having to be delayed from release due to a dispute with Damon Dash, who owns the rights to the album.
