Mortiis remix album on its way

Mortiis has made some of his upcoming album available via myspace.

The tracks come from the Some Kind Of Heroin remix album which features reconstructions of tracks from The Grudge featuring the likes of Girls Under Glass, Kovenant, PIG and more. The album will be released in Europe in April. Speaking about the album, Mortiis said:

“I had remixed several of these artists for their releases earlier so it was really only a matter of bringing out the baseball bat and start yelling “payback time!” – others I would contact direct and work out deals with.

This album mostly came together through mutual contacts, sending Outemails or calling up and asking if they wanted to be part of it. Bands like Girls Under Glass and Gothminister I had met and am friends with so we knew that would work out great.”

Darkest Hour work with Townsend

Darkest Hour are working with Devin Townsend on their upcoming album.

The record, Deliver Us, is the follow up to Undoing Ruin which came out in 2005. Guitarist Mike Schleibaum stated that the band’s hands, legs and bodies hurt from playing so much, but that they are very happy to be working with Townsend and are also happy with the music that’s come out of it. He said:

“It is some of our most complex, melodic, brutal, and aggressive songs to date. There’s some punk, metal, thrash, shred, prog, and even a little of Devin Townsend’s special sauce mixed in this metal gumbo.”

The band have also jumped on the video recording bandwagon and present their recording process here.

Sivion in car crash

Hip Hop Is Music’s Sivion was recently involved in a car crash.

The rapper was involved in the accident on Valentine’s Day, with his car being written off and him having to be rushed to hospital to get emergency surgery to stop internal bleeding.

Hip Hop Is Music have decided that instead of asking for donations of money, they will give 75% of all royalties from the sale of his album to him and his family to help them through this current difficult period.

Spring Of The Songbird is a great record, as recommended a few months back in The Mix, so if you are thinking of getting a copy, now’s the time! Crossfire’s best wishes go out to Sivion and his family, we know you’ll get through it.
