Krooked Zig Zagger

The Krooked ‘cruiser’ boards have been around a few years now with three sizes. The Zip Zinger Nano 7.125″, The Zip Zinger 7.5″ and the Zig Zagger 8.6″. They come in many colour ways and alternative themed graphics ranging from classic bold colours to ice-creams, to galactic space backgrounds, oh and the board comes with stickers and a novelty Krooked card crown!

It’s the 8.6″ Zig Zagger that has got me excited though. Mostly at the thought of looking down at my feet riding this board in the street or at Stockwell skidding about pretending in my head that i’m Mark Gonzales! “But its just cruiser board!” I hear you cry. Don’t be mistaken. It has the same concave, wheel base and equal nose and tail as most standard popsicle boards. You will still be able to pop out all your nollie tricks regardless of the boards pointy nose but now with added style!

My personal point to make with this review is that skateboarding is fun. If your enthusiasm for skateboarding is running low I can’t recommend the Zig Zagger enough, take a chance and make it part of your next set up. If you’re still not convinced watch the man himself having fun on one.

Victoria Park Skatepark cradle almost complete

The wonderful work of Wheelscape Skateparks is almost complete at Victoria Park in Hackney. London. The cradle (which is the second full cradle to ever be built in the UK) will have it’s final tweaks this week. The seams will be ground and overspray taken off in preperation for a special memorial message to remember Tom Wood (RIP), the youngest member of Wheelscape’s build crew who unfortunetely passed in a motorbike accident in September. Tom had been working on the cradle itself on the day of the accident so it will be dedicating it to him as Woody’s Cradle. Please give Tom a thought today and also the people who go to work everyday making skateparks for you all as they don’t just pop up.

The park is still not officially open yet. The main contractor still has to connect the drains and landscape the entire area before the official opening in February 2012. We will update you with more news as it comes in. In the meantime, enjoy this photo from this weekend.

A Day in The Life of illustrator Mr Gauky

Filmed and edited by Matthew Bromley
Photo: Lee J

Well, you are in for a treat this week as London based artist Mr. Gauky has allowed us into his studio to see what goes on behind the scenes of his incredible work.

Mr Gauky is the man behind the Battle Royal themed Superdead decks that are currently out right now and has become one of the most talked about artists in town this year. So, with this in mind, we decided to get the lowdown from the man himself as he is also one of the artists we have picked to be involved in our Toxic Wasters sticker art show at this year’s Halloween Massacre.

Watch this Day in the Life video that will give you a sneak peek at some of his drawings, illustrations and work in progress followed nicely with some dangerous rooftop coffee and cake time and a few pumps at his local cement hole- Cantelowes skatepark in Camden.
