Death release Horror deck series and team update

Patrick Melcher, Dan Cates, Benson, Dave Allen and Rob Smith all have new pro decks this month on Death Skateboards. The Horror series is the latest in Death’s Spring deck run illustrated by artist Alex Duke “who shreds hard as well as being a rad artist.”

Speaking to Zorlac last night, footage is steadily coming from all over the globe in for their forthcoming Ordinary Madness DVD. Zarosh has just hand screened a new run of his custom shape ‘Bleeding Heart’ decks. You can see the new top screen print below. Dan Cates is celebrating a fan tattooing his signature on their arse cheek. Manchester’s Rob Smith is getting better from a back injury due to a nasty slam and Dave Allen is enjoying the new skatepark down the road from his house in Atlanta. Last but never least, Australian trick machine Richie Jackson just got a Slap Pals questions feature that you can see if you scroll down this page.

Visit the Death blog for all updates.

NZ Trio are first to skate from Peru to Chile

Three Kiwis have become the first people to ever skateboard through the driest desert in the world. Alan Carnaby, Troy Bilbrough and Guy Parsons spent five weeks skating 1600kms from Arequipa (Peru) to La Serena (Chile) became the first people in the world to skateboard over much of the Andes, through the Atacama Desert and then down some of northern Chile’s spectacular coastline.

The trip raised awareness “about sustainable travel and how, with a little effort you can make more environmentally sustainable choices” but was also a journey that had its ups and downs.

“We had a bit of drama” says Troy. “Halfway through the trip I was attacked and bitten by wild dogs (and needed rabies injections), Alan got sick, Guy pulled a muscle in his leg and we had to survive on just eating biscuits for three days. Needles to say we had a few tough times, and not to mention having to deal with the raw elements: the wind, the altitude, the hills, the potholes, the sun scorching your back, the wild jaguars in the jungle… but overall we had a heck of a lot of fun”.

Trouble Andrew

Adorable

trouble_andrewSkaters may remember Trouble Andrew from his various deck collabs or even his reputable cover version of Eight Dayz’ classic track What’s So Strange About Me. That version lurked on the end of his last album and was originally featured on the 80’s Santa Cruz video ‘Wheels Of Fire‘ where Natas took skating to a whole new level.

For those that didn’t know that or are wondering what the hell I’m talking about here, Trouble Andrew used to be pretty tasty on a snowboard until he injured himself and turned to making music. After hooking up with artists and producers such as Lil Jon, Amanda Blank and Diplo to name a few, Trevor Andrew made an album of electro/indie pop that has been played on the Crossfire Sound System playlist since it dropped, namely the tune Bang Bang which featured Santigold.

This week, the Canadian born musician has released a video for new tune Adorable that is a dose of infectious 80’s pop that mixes influences from Billy Idol, New Order to The Faint. Watch the video here and look out for album Dreams of A Troubled Man album that is coming soon.
