Ministry of Sound club under threat

February 19th, 2010 by Crossfire

The future of Ministry of Sound’s Southwark nightclub has been put in jeopardy, after plans were put in place for property development nearby.

The dance club, founded in 1991, could potentially lose its license as Isle of Man developer Oakmayne has revealed plans to build a residential building opposite.

Ministry of Sound Group CEO Lohan Presencer said, “When Oakmayne told us that ‘nightclubs come and go’, we were horrified.” Adding, “Ministry of Sound is not just any nightclub, it’s the most famous nightclub in the world and the heart of a global entertainment business.”

More than 300,000 people attend London’s Ministry of Sound every year, at over 200 different events.
