OK, let’s get down right dirty and fucked up here, welcome to the crazy world of Polysics where technology has fist fights with art and punk. Yep, you guessed it, only the Japanese can produce the very best in your worst ever LSD relapse, so get ready to hold on to your hat to get to to the end of Now Is The Time. If you thought Devo were stange then just skip the rest of this review and go back to your nice warm indie music as this can be your worst nightmare or your sunniest memory in one wild ride!
The four piece have visited London a few times, recently as guest of Kaiser Chiefs as frontman Ricky Wilson is a big fan of these 4 fine examples of futuristic splendour, but what does he see in them, what are they like? Well Polysics merge surf rock, punk rock and prog with a dirty techno edge that in no way forms this marriage as dance music. Think Butthole Surfers in 2020, think Brainiac if they had kept going, think of Cornelius on PCP and every cartoon soundtrack you ever heard on mescaline and then think about how it was all produced by Gang of Four’s Andy Gill in Tokyo, London and Los Angeles.
If you have energy to burn, get this album as it’s out this week and it’s er…bananas!

It’s nothing new, but it’s gotten to Flea. The new Red Hot Chili Peppers album, Stadium Arcadium, has been leaked online ahead of its release on May 8th and bassist Flea took time out to update the band’s website bemoaning the fact.
Scottish group Mogwai are doing all sorts this summer to keep themselves busy, including a new record. The band are currently busying themselves by touring North America but will release a new EP, entitled Travel Is Dangerous, on June 26th. The title track is taking from their last album, Mr Beast, and the EP will also contain an Acid Casuals remix of their last single Friend Of The Night, live versions of We’re No Here and Like Herod and an Errors mix of Auto Rock.
The Killers’ frontman Brandon Flowers has said that their upcoming second album is one of the best albums of the last 20 years and that there is “nothing that touches this album”. He reckons that this isn’t him sounding cocky [he could have fooled us] but he’s just excited at the prospect of the new record.
The State of The Works has fallen into disrepute. As fashion crime climbs to an all time high and the youth are swung by the charm of fake gold and jailbait sex, skateboarders are left to fare for themselves on the wild streets.
Let’s get the facts straight – Guy Mariano is a prodigal son for skateboarding, so when everyone’s favourite needs a board, you know the shape is going to be up there. I will put my hand up and admit that
I’m so glad Guy is back and with boards like this skating is going to be a lot more fun.
So,

Ever wondered what a slappy really sounds like? Or perhaps the orchestra of urethane and aspalht is more your cup of tea..? Well, I just read about this on
With sensorial devices placed along the wheelbase and inside each truck, the skater can compose a melody that corresponds to the path he or she has chosen, then mix it or listen back.
If it is sunny outside or even if it’s raining, this debut album from Scott Matthews should fit the bill regardless. Deciding to do it the independent route, Matthews has put together a full album that will simply melt in your mouth from start to finish and why? Because talent this good comes once in a blue moon and if you miss it, you end up being one of those people that discovers classic records in later years and misses out on the growth of something completely special.
