Fatboy Slim plans New Year’s party

Fatboy Slim is apparently planning a new beach party in Brighton for New Year’s this year.

He had previously been banned from holding another event, after his 2002 party attracted 250,000 instead of the expected 60,000. During that night, a woman fell to her death and the emergency services were stalled due to the crowded streets.

Fatboy Slim can now reportedly come back to the beach but only with 20,000 people in attendance for the event called Big Beach Boutique 3. It’ll be ticket entrance only and will be restricted to those with a local postcode.

YouTube takes videos down

Viacom have become the latest media company to tell YouTube to remove copyrighted content from the site.

Reports are that YouTube have gone through their entire site, removing segments from Comedy Central [owned by Viacom], which includes Jon Stewart’s Daily Show and South Park.

YouTube and Viacom have yet to comment but seeing as Viacom own MTV and VH1, it could be a hefty job to take the videos down.

Wörgl Bowl opening footy

Just to prove that the Austrian Wörgl bowl is fully functional and ready to rip, the boys from Muckefest held the Pluto comp on October 7-8th for the opening and a healthy handful of European Thrashers turned up to skate and celebrate.

Despite the weather being shit on the Saturday, it was all sunshine on the Sunday, and things went right off the Richter scale. It was a tough call, but these were the final results:

1. Anders Tellen (Photo c/o Michael Dragaschnig)
2. Stefan Atzl
3. Roman Astleitner / David Margreiter
5. David Martelleur
6. Thilo Nawrocki
7. Ferit Batir
8. Matthias Trobos

Leeds bowl unveiled

Just in time for winter, a sweet bowl has been built in Leeds, at The Works skatepark to be more precise (where else..?).

It was built by handymen Snoz and Lee Rozzee mainly with help from Vince Orr, Dave Stobart and Dougie McLaughlin. The authentic pool coping was sourced from Howard at Cranbourne Stone in Hampshire and is white portland aggregate concrete on flexi adhesive and grout.

The overall measurements look approx like this:

Length 35ft
Deep end 8ft
Shallow end 7ft
Dia. deep end 18ft
Dia. Shallow end 14ft

It’s a Kidney bowl with ramp effect from deep to shallow end with a bulge in one side and a 10ft radius on the external curve.

Guys like this know how to treat the beast. Cheers to Mike at Heathen and Simon at The Works for the info.

The Misfits

What better way could there possibly be of celebrating Halloween than with the ultimate horror fiend punks The Misfits!

So, here’s a little treat from the Crossfire archives for you to help get you in the mood for a spot of trick or treating, goat slaughter, devil worship or whatever it is you pesky kids get up to these days on Halloween.

Today is our chance to openly celebrate the evil and macabre so let’s all dress up as monsters and put the willies up the old folk (not literally of course, that would be horrible).

Here we have Glenn Danzig and Co’s own tribute to Halloween, lifted from Caroline Records’ 1995 release ‘Collection II’ that features many of their best songs and more singalongs than you can shake a zombie at. Happy Halloween!
