Girl News

Please welcome Jenna Selby who will be adding updated female skate gossip into these very pages from today onwards, over to you Jenna…

OK, Sherborne’s one and only gangsteress, Maria Falbo has hooked herself up with Adrian Lopez’s Rock Star Bearings multi-national skate team, alongside the likes of Evelien Bouilliart and Louisa Menke.

Adrian will soon be shipping her off to the States to skate with the whole “Chicas” Crew. Check out www.rockstarbearings.com for more info.

Sam Bruce, Kaos and Kevin Parrot have been working with local London Schools over the summer, teaching kids how to skate and generally promoting it to the younger generation.

Deeside’s vert skater Lil’Rebecca Aimee Davies has signed up with Rubicon Skateboards, where she’ll be getting involved in developing their girl specific brand “Skater Girl.”

At present, Rubicon are looking to develop further and are interested in hooking up with other laydees to join their girl’s team. Criteria being: a good attitude, fun loving and with plenty of talent and potential. (None of us grandmas then!!). They’d also be happy to hear from any girls who are into art and graphic design to help develop the product side of things.

Finally if there any girls who would be interested in joining as an instructor teaching hundreds of children a month (I believe it is ok and understandable to kill a few along the way), across the UK, then get in touch through their website www.teamrubicon.co.uk.

If you want to get an idea of what they do on the coaching side of things, check out: www.skatersunited.co.uk which also gets a mention in this months Sidewalk.

We can tell you that they are not in the grounds of Buckingham Palace, nor the side of the OXO building, and not even on the Uxbridge Rd…

But we can tell you that it took 4 hrs for the first one to be transported by van to this mystery location in London but where can u find them?

It’s this weeks BIG QUESTION..nothing like a game of ‘spot the spot’ is there…

Safety first!

Everybody knows that skating is risky business, so when the sport emerged as a youth craze back in the day, the good old people at Warner thought they had better help us on our way to safe sessions.

Crossfire does not advocate looking like a dork or walking down hills that were made for bombing!

New bowl for South London

A new capsule bowl has been spotted in the Camberwell/Peckham area of South London thanks to various eyes and ears on the Sidewalk Message board where we stole this image.

The bowl is situated behind the art college on Kelly Avenue, London SW15, click here for a map.

Local South London skaters have mentioned that the bowl is in a youth centre and usually only open for kids during the day that closes at 6pm.

Special evening sessions for ‘older skaters’ will be organised, but i guess you will have to hope the locals share the info of when these sessions are planned as the youth centre is er…over run of course with youths. Great news though if you are on your school holidays you lucky little gits!
