Hillbomb of the week

Touch the concrete wave!

We at Crossfire urge you skaters this weekend to not look at a handrail, ledge, stairset or kicker, but instead go and find the steepest hill you can and bomb it like a bad day in Baghdad. Do exactly as Duane Peters, Adam Alfaro and the Foundation crew do, get low, touch your nose and don’t look back.

Hillbombing is rad.

Corrimãozão 2007

Woah, this is gnarly. I thought “Corrimãozão” stood for “insane”, but thankfully our Brazilian viewer Paulo has just confirmed it stands simply for ‘Big Rail’ and they are not wrong.

Not only are these guys taking on some monumental handrails that would have Jamie Thomas needing to change his kegs, these are in the heart of Brazil and aren’t exactly the smoothest rails you’ve ever seen.

The idea of this contest seems to be cash prizes for the best skater, filmer and photographer who can find the biggest, most hammers rail they can find. Check the footage below and weep.

King of the Ramp 2008

Skaters from all over the world descended on Tirol, Austria for the King of the Ramp 2008 competition this year, and it went off!

Those in attendance included Dave Martelleur, Ferit Batir, Anders Tellen, Emilio Arnanz and our very own Andy Scott, who all ripped the place to pieces to claim the crown. With people getting knocked out left right and centre including the organiser Roman Astleitner, who collided with Ferit Batir half an hour before the event started, this looked to be the best KOTR yet. Roman even managed to get himself back together, pale-faced and worse for wear, and entered the heats and the final, top man! The prize was taken by Anders Tellen who skated his arse off, but the Brits also featured on the podium with Andy Scott taking third place with his trademark eggplants.

The full results of the final are below, and you can peek more photos of the event at www.muckefuckskateboards.com

Final results:

1. Anders Tellen (Germany)
2. Martin Jurasek (Czech)
3. Andy Scott (England)
4. Guillaume Mocquin (France)
5. Harri Puupponen (Finland)
6. Emilio Arnanz (Spain)
7. Ferit Batir (Austria)
8. Roman Astleitner (Austria)
9. Alex Giraud (France)
10. David Martelleur (Belgium)

‘Super Jumbo’ Lovenskate movie!

Lovenskate have sent us their first trailer for the forthcoming ‘Super Jumbo‘ movie.

The film documents a skate trip to Bolivia covering the experience of the full journey.

Lovenskate’s head honcho Stuart Smith spoke to Crossfire about the film over a cup of hot builders tea: “I first went to Bolivia 8 years ago. For one week I walked around La Paz without seeing a single skateboarder. There were the signs, waxed marble, ground ledges, all hidden among women clad in Alpaca wool sat in the blazing heat selling anything from mothballs to angle grinders.

Then they appeared, and so did a city covered in spots and skateboarding potential. Sometimes it felt like you’d gone back in time on your skateboard, often riding out of a trick on cobbles, but it made it all part of the challenge.

I knew that one day I wanted to go back and make a skateboard film, and in 2008 we got the opportunity. We travelled for one month from La Paz, the highest capital city in the world, down the mountains to Cochabamba and to the jungle city Santa Cruz. “Super Jumbo” documents our journey, the rich Skateboard scene and it’s characters like Gunnar Quispe, JP, Wazo and many more.”

Look out for the release of “Super Jumbo” this summer and click here for the trailer.

Bridlington’s Gasworx Skatepark is go

Bridlington’s Gasworx Skatepark has been completed by Gravity and will be open on April 12th 2008.

Gravity’s Marc Churchill says :I had a bit of a skate around the bowl and I must say I was super stoked! It is the first time that Gravity have installed pool coping and I was very happy to see that it all went in perfect. The ditch replica is looking really good and when the two blocks are shuttered in it will be super fun to skate.”

The park looks like it’s super fun, so hold off until it’s officially open as concrete needs to set and lighting needs to be added.

Bridlington ‘Gasworx’ Skatepark can be found at Moorfield Road, Bridlington, YO15 and is located at the back of the car park off Moorfield road. Click here for a street map link and watch footage below.
