blender_vans

One-off shoe collabs are rife but whatever Neil Blender signs up for is usually is pretty dope. A Vans Syndicate model has been designed, made and about to hit various hand picked independent Vans retailers out there this month. These also come with an exclusive custom-designed Neil Blender turtle bobble head.

Pretty cool looking on first view.

Lakai MJ Chocolate Anchor shoe

lakai_mj_chocolate_anchor_shoe_skate

Lakai have issued a new bunch of rad shoes under their Anchor editions program this month, limited only to those skate shops that have been there for the brand since day one who have helped shape their local skate scene.

These Marc Johnson x Chocolate Anchor specials are indeed, special. Last year Lakai sent us his KOTR model that became the only skate shoe I could really trust to help save my heels. This year, they have taken a good look at that model and decided to trim a centimetre or so off the width, which works a treat. These thinner versions also come with the Griffin sole that was definitely one of the highlights of last summer.

The fact that Lakai are thinking how they can improve shoes for us to skate in and progressing successfully at the same time can only be good for us all in the long run. These look sick, feel ready to skate straight out of the box and although limited, worth appeciating and then stocking up on. Stores such as Parlour, Note, Scene and others have them in the UK and they retail at about £60. Oh, and they come with a free pair of Chocolate sunglasses too, nice touch.

Selfridges fashion skateboard selection

sacai_skateboard_fashion

Selfridges are really going to town on their fashionable skateboard section right now. Check out this Sacai effort, a snip at £8500 that comes with a warning from Selfridges – “Due to the delicate nature of this item it is a display piece only, skating is not advised.” No shit sherlock.

Next up is Alexandra McQueen’s estate, who have produced this denim-topped nightmare. “Designed exclusively for Selfridges, this board is the easiest way to maintain your high-fashion credentials down at the half-pipe.” It’s steal at just £1000. If McQueen had turned up mall grabbing that at his local park, it surely would have saved him a job.

Or you could spend a nifty £4000 on this deck made by Caité. “Handcrafted with thousands of glass pearls, this one-off skateboard deck custom made by the Ciaté London team is a truly luxe way to travel. An ode to the original and best-known Rainbow Caviar Manicure which caused a Beauty storm back in March 2012, the board was glossed with a slick of Strawberry Milkshake pink and coated with multicoloured sprinkles, giving it that cupcake sprinkle finish.”

Did you actually just read that?! There is no end to this nightmare, and there are so many more. Wait until you see the helmet…
