To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Britain’s most important and influential skateboard companies, a huge art show featuring the legacy of Deathbox will open in Rotterdam, Holland, on Friday July 27th at the VIP International Art Galleries.

Featuring original deck art, magazine articles, tons and tons of controversial ads, photos by Davey van Laere and the incredibly sought after Deathbox video: Spirit of the Blitz, this exhibition will show just how important this company was in the progression of British skateboarding.

Just the names of the people attending should be enough to make you realise this, as so far the confirmed ‘celebs’ turning up include Sean Goff, Mark VDE, Pete Dossett, Alex Moul, Jocke Olsson, Rocker, Andy Scott, Davy Van Laere, Brian Vavier, Ian Deacon, Justin Ashby, Nico van der Wel, Jeremy Fox, Geoff Rowley, Tom Penny, Arto Saari, Mark Appleyard, Rodrigo TX, and more.

This reunion will be happening during the World Championship Skateboarding comp in Rotterdam, so yet another reason to take the weekend off – www.wsr07.com

Danny Wainwright has hooked up with the art & skate collective Xynthetic.

The skater and artist has joined the Xyn team and will hit up both sides of the spectrum for them. Gav from Xynthetic said:

To celebrate 10 successful years of renowned skate store 50:50, co-owner and massive ollier Danny Wainwright creates a not-to-be-missed exhibition documenting the vibrant history of the store.

Opening on the 24th August with a special celebration at the Centre Space gallery, Bristol, the showcase will feature a retrospective collection of magazine features, photographs, video and design, with a night of sounds from DJ Daddy G of Massive Attack.

Premiered on this evening will also be the launch of the limited edition 50:50/Vans collaboration shoe. On reworking the iconic half cab design Wainwright said “I wanted to do a half cab because it was a shoe I grew up skating in and the shoe I won the high ollie in. The half cab is a shoe that really represents skateboarding – a timeless classic!”

Alongside the 10 year time-line and shoe launch, other collaborative products including a limited edition cap from co-sponsors New Era, skateboard wheels and decks will be shown.

The exhibition will then be open to the public until the 29th August.
