Stockwell surgery starts this week

Stockwell Skatepark is to go under the knife again to fix the shoddy surface that ruined the infamous spot over a year ago.

Work will start this week from August 8th and should take an estimated 3 months to complete but you will also note the addition of the extra bowled out section at the back of the park and other extra fun concrete walls and bumps that should definitely open up some more lines and also keep Jeremy Donaldson happy for the next few months!

Well done to all involved, we will bring you pictures once work is underway, but in the meantime check the Stockwell site for a more detailed version of the image on this page.

Vans Uk Tour Blog Pt 4

03.08.07

“The demo yesterday was another ruler with a real comedy best trick comp for kids including the firecracker challenge.

A heated wall ride session at the park saw a number of tricks done that will probably never get repeated with H, Church Hell and Rogie all getting stuck in.

With the bus now at full capacity the crew is strong and everyone is still having a really good time.

Today sees the much anticipated arrival of Danny Wainwright and a demo and signing at Stoke. We’re just carrying out some running repairs to the bus in the hotel car par before hitting the road to Stoke. Enjoy todays’s video blog courtesy of Marc Churchill cheers – Powely

Look out for a full weekend update on Monday…

Thinking of skating this weekend?

Jake Brown isn’t.

And I’m fucking scared of dropping in again like a little girly 10 year-old. I want full pads, helmet, bollock protector and eye goggles before going anywhere near my board again.

Get well soon Jake.

Vans Tour Blog Part 3

2nd August – 6.52pm

“After a night in Glasgow we’re all refreshed and ready for the long slow drive to Blackpool. As you can see from the clip, yesterdays shop visit to Focus and demo at Kelvingrove went really well. The rain held off all day so we even got to hit up a new street spot after the demo.

Yesterdays best trick comp was a fly out jam out of the bowl which was good entertainment for us as Manhead landed a 540 and the local kids were really going for it. We’re meeting back up with James Gardner and H today who’ve been away for a few days on the Toy Machine tour and band duties respectively. The much anticipated arrival of Danny Wainwright is sure to be a highlight of the day.” – Powley

Kelvingrove Vans Tour Diary

1st August 2007 – 1.10pm

The guys from Vans have managed to get themselves over to Kelvingrove skatepark for a day of snaking each other and trains. Part 2 of their Vans Tour Diary up now on the Crossfire video blog.

“Yesterday was technically our day off but after a lie in everyone was keen to skate and the weather was good so we hit up Dunblane skatepark.

Within minutes Olly Tyreman collided with Ross McGouran resulting in a trip to hospital and a broken wrist! Olly has just gone back to have it re-cast and Grove has gone along for the ride and to get his own wrist checked out.

The weather in Edinburgh is a little sketchy today but I’m assured it will be fine for the demo later at Kelvingrove. Sorry for the brief news today but everyone is in the bus waiting for me to leave!”

Nueu ‘Ride with Us’ Tour

1st August 2007

The NueuRide with Us” trip was a bit of an experiment to see what would happen if you opened up a road trip to whoever fancied coming along.

Predictably at the ‘Start Point‘ it was pissing down with rain and no one except the crew I’d rounded up for the Vans bus had turned up!

With everything except our spirits dampened we headed down to Bristol and left the rain behind (as it happened for the rest of the week) and en route the phone started ringing. My old friend ‘G’ aka the Baron had decided to tag along for a few days, Phil from Nueu had brought the Essex contingent and the Casual/Curb Surfers crew from Kent also joined in. So there we had it, our own little four vehicle convoy, a few days later G headed home but he was replaced by Hastings Joe who appeared as if by magic in Exeter.

I could go into real details about the week but you’re better off waiting to see the footage as it will do it much more justice. We slept where we could – car boot sales fields, a beautiful beach and outside a nightclub but even the hardest of us succumbed to a hotel for a couple of nights (it did have a mini ramp and bar in it too). Incidents included multiple arrests, Tyreman getting a hiding, Rob Smith buying a gas mask and Aaron Sweeney setting a new Cornish hill climbing record. For a crew that didn’t really know each other things went really well, destinations were chosen with simple group votes as were camp sites and restaurants. No one complained all week, even when it started raining on Saturday, we knew we’d done well to avoid it whilst the rest of the country was suffering from floods. We’d all had a good time and made the decision to call an end to it one day early and come home on a high.

At the end of the day I’d have to say it was a huge success and we’re all hoping to do it all again next year on a different route. New friends were made and there’s plenty of tales to be told from our adventure. Hopefully you’ll join us next time too.

Blind announce KOTR team line-up

BlindKOTRBlind have announced the poor souls that will sweat it out and stink out the tour van on this years Thrasher King of the Road.

Ronnie Creager, Jake Duncombe, Danny Cerezini, James Craig and Morgan Smith will take up the challenges set by Thrasher as they travel across the states, probably trying to do a bit of skating in between destroying hotel rooms and racking up thousands of dollars on room service.
