Bay Sixty6 was host to the Nando’s X-Peri-Mental event on Saturday, which had kids being taught how to skate, prizes, and serious amounts of spicy chicken.
The event was well attended with names including Lucien Clarke,Amir Williams, and more. Check out the short clip below for some super smooth kickflip frontside crooks to chicken burger reverts.
2007 was a good year for Emerica and Baker pro rider Andrew Reynolds.
The launch of his own clothing range Altamont Apparel was press released worldwide to wide acclaim but you may be wondering if the hype supercedes the garments so we decided to get our hands on the goods themselves and let you know the truth.
The Captain jacket comes in one piece and blends a hoodie and jacket together. It’s a good idea and works well once you are inside it. Quality wise, it’s a winner all round. The inner lining is super soft and the outside feels as though it could take a slam or two. The in-built hood is perfect if you don’t like the weight of a huge hood floating over your head as you hardflip a 7 set.
Functionality wise there’s no zipper on the front allowing freedom if you are skating and want to get some fresh air and pockets can be found inside for your music player and one either side of your chest up front. The only gripe i have with this jacket, (and i mean the only gripe) is that there are no pockets on the front to stick your hands in. I guess if you are in the UK and you have cold hands then you gotta warm them up in your jeans, oh did i mention how comfy those Altamont jeans are yet?
The bottom line is that Reynolds and Co have come up with seriously quality gear here, this jacket is dope – go get it.
After much deliberating, the winner of the Nike 6.0 media apprenticeship competition was announced as Josh Knox from London. Josh won through the hundreds of other entrants to bag himself the first prize of placement on the team.
Judges Chris Moran, Andrew Horsley, Will Smyth and Alex Wade all commented on his smooth camera work and strong story lines running through the film clips, with his sharp photography capturing action moments beautifully.
Throughout his placement year with Nike 6.0, Josh will work alongside some of the action sports industries top professionals. From photographers, film makers and athletes, to magazine editors and publishing houses – including companies like Extreme TV, Permenant Publishing and Factory Media. He will also receive exclusive training and top of the range equipment from Adobe – official partners of the scheme.
He will experience live photo shoots, attending some of the best action sports in the world and documenting the 6.0 teams exploits.
Josh, 18, said, “This is a really good opportunity to improve my skills as a filmmaker and photographer and have the opportunity to work with some of the best riders in Britain. I want to progress in the film and photography arena as I want to show people the passion these athletes have for their sport. I also want to learn more on the post production side so I can make my editing outstanding.”
The trailer for Osiris’ latest video Feed The Need has just come out, and it looks a good ‘un with some serious bangers coming from Caswell Berry, Stu Graham, John Rattray, The Butcher, Clint Peterson, Corey Duffel, Jimmy Carlin and loads more.
It looks likely that the UK Premiere of this film will be shown at the Crossfire Xmas Jam this year in London, more info will be released soon.
More details of this to follow but there’ll be a one off premiere of the new Vans tour DVD at the Blue Dog in Derby, Friday 28th September (the day before the House comp).
Not sure what the idea behind this Sunday Times fashion photoshoot was, but maybe to make supermodels look even hotter by putting them next to sweaty, smelly skateboarders.
Ari Marcopolous filmed this behind the scene look at the shoot, which made me laugh as it’s always funny seeing girls genuinely shocked that you don’t die if you fall over on your board.
Yarrrrgh, m’hearties! Shiver me timbers, y’scurvy landlubbers!
Err, yeah it’s International Talk Like A Pirate Day (again) so put on your peg legs, gouge out an eye and patch it up, then go fuck over someone’s boat and steal their jewellery.
The Boss, also known as the legendary Andrew Reynolds has been one of the major names in skateboarding for well over a decade.
With Andrew being involved with Baker, Emerica and Birdhouse throughout his career and now launching his own brand Altamont, as well as becoming a father recently, we decided to get a 10 minute Quikfire out of him.
Daily routine?
Starbucks, cigarette, playing with the kid, a bunch of nothing and maybe some skating and guitar playing in there somewhere.
Is Baker looking to launch the first toddler squad?
Being a dad fucking rules.
Reynolds and the infamous frontside flip. Help or a hindrance?
It helps because they think of something rather than nothing.
What do you want people to know about you instead of that – a love for Mozart? A keen gardener?
I listen to the goat and I pay people to take care of the yard.
Are the people arguing over style missing the point?
Not really. A person’s style is what sets them apart. I think it’s important.
