‘Nothing But The Magnificent’ Roxy Music documentary

GrahamSimpson_roxymusic

A documentary highlighting the disappearance of Roxy Music’s bass player Graham Simpson is in working progress right now. The band’s co founder went missing shortly after the first album was recorded and passed away on 16th April 2012.

After receiving royalties from Roxy Music’s first album, Simpson left UK to study various cultures and religions that took him to Greece, Mexico, India and Africa and six month jail term for safe cracking in Morocco. He never returned to the band.

The mystery of his chosen path has been documented by friend and neighbour Sara Cook, who alongside BadLittleCook Films partner Miranda Little have released this short teaser below for what they are cooking up. A full length film is meant to be in the works and should be well worth the wait. Watch this and hope that this intriguing project all comes together.

Jeff Hanneman’s death alcohol related

The autopsy results of Slayer guitarist/founder Jeff Hanneman came back with alcohol related issues from a statement that the band released overnight. The band are also currently planning to issue a public celebration of Jeff’s life “sometime later this month”.

“We’ve just learned that the official cause of Jeff’s death was alcohol related cirrhosis. While he had his health struggles over the years, including the recent Necrotizing fasciitis infection that devastated his well-being, Jeff and those close to him were not aware of the true extent of his liver condition until the last days of his life. Contrary to some reports, Jeff was not on a transplant list at the time of his passing, or at any time prior to that. In fact, by all accounts, it appeared that he had been improving – he was excited and looking forward to working on a new record.”

The full statement with personal tributes from all of the Slayer family can be found here

As I Lay Dying singer Tim Lambesis arrested

As I Lay Dying vocalist Tim Lambesis has been arrested this week after allegedly trying to hire an undercover detective he believed was a hit man to take out his estranged wife Meggan Lambesis. The Christian lead singer had filed for divorce back in September.

The band made a statement overnight on what must be a very difficult situation.

“To our fans,

As we post this, the legal process is taking its course and we have no more information than you do. There are many unanswered questions, and the situation will become clearer in the coming days and weeks. We’ll keep you informed as best we can.

Our thoughts right now are with Tim, his family, and with everyone else affected by this terrible situation – and with our fans, whom we love and draw strength from.

Thank you for understanding, and as always, for your support of As I Lay Dying.

– Jordan, Nick, Phil, and Josh”
