Following their fantastic new album Lost In The Dream, The War On Drugs have today shared a new music video for the soaring single, ‘Under The Pressure’.

Today Thurston Moore has announced his new solo album, The Best Day will be released on October 20th via Matador Records.

Moore will be joined on stage by James Sedwards of Nought on guitar, Debbie Googe of My Bloody Valentine on bass and Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth on drums. A jaw-droppingly cool group of people, and arguably some of the most important musicians in contemporary music. This is tremendously exciting news for ‘Valentines and Sonic Youth fans alike, listen to the album’s eponymous first single below.

London favourites Wolf Alice have announced two new live dates for October. The four piece will play Manchester’s Club Academy followed by London’s Heaven, get your tickets from 9am August 20th. Check out the latest video from recent Toe Rag session, ‘Heavenly Creatures’.

Hot on the heels of June debut album Weird Little Birthday, Happyness have revealed a new music video, ‘Anything I Do Is Alright’, taken from upcoming follow up EP of the same name, due September 1st via Weird Smiling.

Sticking to their well-oiled guns, Happyness channel in pavement ooh-ahh sensibilities, while pushing their guitar tones to overdrive behind your token barrage of crashing percussion. A quick fix for anyone looking for some accessable indie rock, ‘Anything I Do Is Alright’ is sure to deliver. Check out their new video below.

This is probably the best music news of the year. This winter will see the release of Fugazi‘s first ever demo tape via Dischord, their first official release in many years.

In January 1988, after only ten shows, Fugazi decided to go into Inner Ear Studio to see what their music sounded like on tape. They tracked 11 songs, ten of which were ultimately dubbed to cassette tape and distributed free at shows, with the band encouraging people to share the recording.

The only song from the session that has been formally released was “In Defense of Humans,” which appeared on the State of the Union compilation in 1989. Now, some 26 years later, Dischord is releasing the entire demo including the one song (“Turn Off Your Guns”) that wasn’t included on the original cassette. The record has been mastered by TJ Lipple and will be available on CD and LP+Mp3.

This release will also coincide with the completion of the initial round of uploads to the Fugazi Live Series website. Launched in 2011, the site now includes information and details on all of Fugazi’s 1000+ live performances and makes available close to 900 concert recordings that were documented by the band and the public.

Following Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon’s unfortunate separation, Sonic Youth have remained on permanent hiatus since 2011. Hard as it may be to imagine, there is infact some exciting news to be shared for more than one member of Sonic Youth.

Proactive as ever, we already know Thurston Moore plans to release a new solo album under the guise of, The Thurston Moore Band. What’s more exciting, though, is the fact that Steve Shelly and Debbie Googe are making up the band behind him on the road, with a first show booked already for August 19th at Ocii, Amsterdam.

Moore’s upcoming solo album, The Best Day, will be released later this year via Matador Records. Listen to his latest single below and keep your ear to the ground for more news on this fantastic marriage of musical skill.

Melvins have announced they will release a brand new album titled Hold It In on October 14th via Ipecac Records. Not only will they be releasing brand new music, but also forming with a new line-up. The album will see Buzz and Dale joining forces with the Butthole Surfers’ guitarist Paul Leary and bassist J.D. Pinkus.

Surely a line-up to get excited about more than any, Buzz comments on the upcoming album:

“Hold It In is a refreshing piece of fiction in a boring world of fact and bullshit. Paul is one of the best guitar players I have ever heard and Pinkus has an outside the box type of approach to both guitar and bass that you just have to let it ride. I can’t believe this actually happened. I’m thrilled.”

J Mascis has shared a new track from his upcoming acoustic solo album Tied to a Star.

Streaming on SoundCloud now, ‘Wide Awake’ is a soothing ode to insomnia, featuring guest vocals from Cat Power, and J’s finest finger picking.

Having released their fourth studio album, Glass Boys, all of five minutes ago, it barely comes as a suprise that Fucked Up have already shared two brand new songs online.

Clearly the writing process for Glass Boys was fruitful as the band have revealed that ‘The Way We Did’ and ‘Blink’ are part of a series of upcoming 7″s they are self releasing to follow the album. Hit this below.

Following this years live stints at the 100 Club and The Great Escape, White Lung have announced they will return to our shores in November to continue their hardcore fuelled mission to destroy your ears.

Just ahead of their tour, White Lung will release new single ‘In Your Home‘ on August 25th. Yet another ripper that features on current album Deep Fantasy, released earlier this year.
