Bright Eyes to release song for Sound Strike

Sound Strike, a coalition of artists openly boycotting Arizona in wake of the controversial SB 1070 immigration law will feature an exclusive contribution from Conor Oberst’s Bright Eyes pseudonym.

The song, entitled ‘Coyote Song‘ will be offered as one contribution to Zack De Le Rocha’s Sound Strike amongst others who are supporting the strike. These include the likes of Kanye West, Massive Attack, Spank Rock, Sonic Youth, Rage Against The Machine and more.

The song was described by Conor as concerning the lives of ‘two lovers separated by conditions that are out of their control, namely [government immigration policy]‘. You can hear more from him about the Sound Strike in the video below.

Royksopp release tracklisting for ‘Senior’

Royksopp have announced that the follow up to last year’s blogosphere favourite ‘Junior‘, will be released on the 13th September.

The fourth studio album, entitled ‘Senior‘ is confirmed to be an instrumental LP that serves as a binary opposition in sound and style to last year’s ‘Junior‘. In an official statement from the Norwegian duo, they spoke about the relationship between the two releases…

‘Junior’ [has] emphasis on vocals, accessible melodies and harmonies, [it] has the energy, the inquisitive temper and confident “hey-ho, let’s go!”-attitude of youth, whereas ‘Senior’ is the introverted, dwelling and sometimes graceful counterpart, brimful with dark secrets and distorted memories, insisting ‘I’m old, I’ve got experience…

The albums tracklist has been revealed and is as follows…

…And The Forest Began To Sing
Tricky Two
The Alcoholic
Senior Living
The Drug
Forsaken Cowboy
The Fear
Coming Home
A Long, Long Way

New Radiohead album incoming?

Some very exciting news for Radiohead fans this week… guitarist and the mind behind the incredible and often overlooked b-side ‘Meeting In The Aisle‘, Ed O Brien, announced during an interview with Adam Buxton on his BBC Radio 6 show that the follow up to In Rainbows may be released this year.

Here’s what the friendly giant himself has to say about the new record:

‘We’re in the heart of the record. It’s genuinely exciting. It’s very different from what we did last time. It’s really nice to be doing this. It’s so good to be making music with the band that you feel is still as good as it’s ever been.’
