North Wales has what looks like one of the best new skateparks in the country up and running this month, built by Carve. The Deeside park found inside Deeside Leisure Centre is 1452 sq m of fun and lines a plenty, not to mention a fantastic looking bowl and mini ramp. Here’s some footage of Alx Green, James Starkey, Danny Cartwright, Cleggy, James Sanders and an edit of Liverpool’s Andrew ‘Evz’ Evans skating the brand new wood on offer.
Address: Deeside Leisure Centre, Chester Road West, Queensferry, Deeside, Flintshire, CH5 1SA
The good news today is that Greenwich locals are delighted to receive the news of the fact that their local council have agreed to put a good amount of wedge so far towards a new concrete skatepark this year. The bad news is that they now need to raise £350 for the planning application and that’s where you come in.
In Stuart’s own words:
“After finding a suitable plot of land by the Thames barrier Greenwich council has invited us to apply for planning permission for our skatepark. We have also had very positive news about funding for the build of the park.”
“We are raising funds to design and build a modern skatepark for Greenwich, the millenium borough, in time for the 2012 Olympics. The old skatepark at Woolwich waterfront is being sold to developers to make way for flats/crossrail. We aim to raise £250,000 for an original, competition level park that will be one of the best in London and the UK.”
Stuart Hopper has done all the hard work by getting the ball rolling. If you are reading this and skate in London, be a hero today and donate a few quid to the cause to help push this through quickly so there’s a new spot to skate in that area.
