Deranged Records news

86 Mentality will be recording and releasing their 3rd 7″ for Deranged in 2007. Haymaker will be coming out of retirement for a show in Baltimore in January, and even if you can’t get to that, keep your eyes peeled for their compilation CD which is due out in March.

Career Suicude’s album, Attempted Suicide, is due out in mid-January. Jon Drew is handling the production on this hardcore release with Brandon Ferrell on the drums. You can check out a track by clicking here.

Also available is the new Bayonettes 7″, which follows the Stuck In This Rut/Sour release, and you can pick up on coloured vinyl at the online store. The new track, We’re Doomed, is a nod to punk’s past and is setting the band up for a tour of the US and Europe in 2007.

Violent Minds have their new EP done and dusted and will be looking to release it in February or March next year with plans of touring in Europe to back it up. Another group with a release in March is the Tranzmitors, who hope to bring out their full length then. In the meantime, you can pick up their 4th single, which is out now.

Terminal State are also busy with new material too, with their follow up to their last 12″ EP coming in the form of a new 7″ which will give fans a taste of what is to come with their full length, which is due out later in 2007. You can check a preview at www.myspace.com/terminalstatehc or pick up the mp3 by clicking here.

Finally, The Red Dons, a new band with Doug from the Observers and Clorox Girls’ Justin, will be putting out a new release around February. In addition to this, Doug has also started a new band, The Revisions, and you can check them out over at their myspace.

Snowbombing 2007 line up news

Snowbombing, the winter music festival has confirmed a number of acts for their 2007 event. Included amongst these acts are The Cuban Brothers, Mr Hudson, Sunshine Underground and The Young Knives.

As if that weren’t enough a whole host of great DJ’s will also be performing, including the Scratch Perverts, Rob Da Bank, Joe Ransom, James Lavelle, Evil nine, Soul Of Mann and more.

Gareth Cooper, from the festival said: “We’re very pleased to add the live element to Snowbombing, which we feel reinforces our position as one of the biggest winter festivals in Europe . Watching bands playing at 2000 metres with the snow capped Austrian Alps in the background is certainly different. The event has come along way, 2500 people at the event is probably the biggest exodus of Brits for a one off event which we are proud of.”

Element Clothing

28th Dec 2006

As we step further into the winter and bare the front of all the harsh elements Mother Nature wants to bestow upon us, an adequate wardrobe is the strict minimum so as not to suffer. Aware of the elements (ha!), Element has produced some top quality gear to make it through the winter, with style to boot.

First up are the Grind Pants, or trousers if you’re British, made of a soft corduroy material that is exactly what you want during the cold season- Jeans don’t retain heat and simply soak up moisture! These bottoms have a good cut to them which leave them baggy everywhere except the crotch region, so people won’t point and laugh at you as if you crapped your boxers.

With the bagginess in mind, the cut doesn’t flare out at the bottom and sits comfortably over your shoes without dragging under the heel. Extra detail includes deep pockets and flat rivets in the hip/pocket regions so no hippers here.

Next, we have the One Love Hoodie: 80% cotton, 20% polyester. I got an extra large version of this top, and it has to be my favourite. Super soft and not wafer thin, but not too heavy either. The hood is pretty big, so you can whip it over your hat, beanie, doo-rag or paper bag with no problem. Good graphic, though not pictured is the little skateboard that appears on the back right hip side.

Finally we have two t-shirts. There isn’t much that can go wrong with t-shirts and Element have been stitching up their good for quite some time now to know that a t-shirt mustn’t shrink, the screened print can’t flake and the seams must be sewn tightly. With all the bases covered, these two tees are sweet.

Have a look at the online catalogues and see if anything takes your fancy.

8.5/10

MF Doom – Bumper news

MF Doom has always been one of the most prolific rappers out there in terms of sheer numbers of releases and 2007 looks set to continue that trend. To start with, his classic Operation: Doomsday record will be re-issued by Rhymesayers, as it had been forced out-of-print due to remoured sample clearance. The new edition is thought to be in a deluxe digipack with additional tracks and a DVD featuring both live footage and videos. A re-issue for the also-pulled MM…Food is being planned too.

Madvillain 2, the highly anticipated follow up to the hugely popular Madvillainy [Doom and Madlib] was due out in 2007 but this is on the back burner now as it is thought that the two men haven’t had any serious recording time together. But there is a new track on the Stone’s Throw Chrome Children LP, so pimp that for now but an album that is expected to be out next year is the Ghostface/Doom collabo, which apparently is top of the priority list for the Wu member.

Finally, Kid Robot, who have done plastic renditions of Biggie and Gorillaz, are going to put out an 8.5″ figure of Madvillain, on a limited run. Expect this to go like hotcakes [or should that be Hoe Cakes?].
