GnR explain leak

Dizzy Reed of Guns N Roses has spoken out about the new track, Better, that was recently leaked.

The song comes from the ever-delayed album Chinese Democracy, which has been put back against from its March 5th release. The keyboard player spoke on a GnR site saying that the track, which has been doing the round on US radio, was a demo used for a Harley Davison advert which somehow got out.

“The version that’s getting airplay is that same demo… For the record, absolutely none of the songs that have been leaked have come from the band or our organisation. None of the songs that have been leaked are anything more than demo versions, works in progress. No final mixes…Hearing a demo on the radio really sucks.”

Jackson to lose Beatles catalogue?

Michael Jackson is facing the prospect of losing the back catalogue of The Beatles that he controls.

The singer won the rights after outbidding Paul McCartney in 1985 but due to reported massive debts, his ownership looks likely to be ended by May 31st next year.

This comes after he sold some of his ownership to Sony last year and more reports say that he may have to pay £129million for expenses the company has incurred since taking over the share.

McLaren predicts label death

Malcolm McLaren has predicted the death of record labels.

The man notorious for being behind the Sex Pistols’ rise to fame was making a speech in New York to mark the Live From London showcase. He claimed that the labels downfall would arrive due to the rise of the internet, saying that technology and the internet were making music authentic again. He went on to say:

“No one cares about selling units any more. All record labels will end up closing eventually because no one wants actual CDs anymore. You can get whatever you want on the internet for nothing now.The experience of seeing a band or artist perform in front of you is what is valued today and that’s why live entertainment is having such a boom at the moment.”

Flosstradamus

Let’s get it straight from the very start – on its own, Zombie Nation might sound shit. Especially when its played at Palace on a Saturday afternoon in a vain attempt to get us to pretend our season still has a purpose. And then we get onto Crunk, which basically sounds a bit naff unless you’re in a club with speakers the size of a small country vibrating your brain from pillar to post.

So how comes Flosstradamus‘ mash up of the two is fucking great? Well, maybe that’s something no-one will ever be able to answer, but basically the long and short of it is that this is a track that shouldn’t work, but really, really does. From Lil Jon and Three 6 Mafia giving it the “YAYUH” to the Zombie Nation bassline pounding behind the vocals, this is something that you’d love to hear in a club. You just won’t admit it.

Flosstradamus recently blasted the shit out of Cargo on the Catch An Attitude tour with A-Trak, Craze and Kid Sister and when you hear this and imagine it amplified a million times, you’ll understand just why they went down so well.

They also persuaded me I should buy a trillby. No, seriously, I’m gonna.

Mark Ronson

Super Producer/DJ Mark Ronson is back with another blast from his upcoming album Version. After having teased us all with his ODB sampled re-working of Britney’s Toxic, he’s now back with his Allido protegé Daniel Merriweather.

This time the song which gets the Ronson treatment is Stop Me by The Smiths and trust me, if you think it can’t work, it does and after listening to this belting single, you won’t be in any doubt at all. Australian Merriweather’s stunning voice grabs your attention from the outset as the bass and strings take over and thrust you into the unbelivably party-vibed drums.

With his trademark horns thrown into the mix too, Ronson completely reworks Morrissey & co.’s original and gives it a totally new feel, one that will see you pushing the ceiling in clubs from now til Christmas. There are many great tracks on the album, but this is definitely one of the stand outs for sure.
