Cliché Colonel Jacket

Whilst most people get obsessive about their sneakers or caps, I just can’t get enough jackets. Flannels, duffels, raincoats, sports jackets, blazers, over coats… I love a bit of outdoor gear, I do! Along with two wardrobes full of button up coats, there is always one season that troubles my choice of jacket when I go skating- the Autumn. From September to November the weather plays a nasty game of hot and cold, so no matter how you mix and match your layers of clothing, you’re bound to catch a chill. Hopefully this Autumn I can avoid catching a cold thanks to the Colonel, the jacket that is.

Cliché’s Colonel jacket is a simple windbreaker with fleece layering on the inside. The jacket cuts out the wet and wind, and keeps you warm on the inside. What more do you need? To break down the intricacies of this item, I can start by saying that it is completely black with the Cliché logo stitched in black up the side. I don’t suggest you ride around in traffic on a foggy night with this jacket unless you have good life insurance or neon pink trousers. Anyway, I like the darkness of it all because rainbow colours only look good on the catwalk, not a dirty carpark or derelict alleyway.

There’s a big zip pocket on the front which you can stash your walkman, wax, hat gloves and scarf into, no problem. Then there is the bonus of a secret stash pocket hidden in the underside of your left arm. I like to stash a small ziplock bag of herbal tea in there for laters. Both the hood and hem line are lined with elastic length that can be adjusted and tightened to stop the wind from sending chilly guffs up your body. Finally, you have two hand pockets stitched on either side, but these are the only letdown in my opinion. I think these two pockets could have been redesigned because they’re very small and positioned slightly too far back for comfortable hand-in-pockets slouching.

Heroin Gunsho deck series

Fos sent us some news today to launch the brand new series of Heroin decks to you exclusively from Crossfire and has this to say:

“I hate Illustrators. I get these people sending me stuff all the time wanting to do boards, and all their work looks the bloody same. It’s like one person copied a Japanese cartoon, and everyone else copies them or something. Happy, inoffensive drawings of big headed cute cartoon people doing nice things. I hate it. I look at shops in town and there are books filled with this crap that all looks the same to me.

Seriously though, there are very few illustrators whose work I see and think that they’re trying to do anything different. When I first saw Gunshos work, I knew that he wasn’t trying to make any friends with what he was doing, drawings of dribbling, gruesome demons, with cocks and broken bottles.

The guy can draw, he can draw bloody well, so I thought, why not bell him up and ask him to draw demonesque portraits of all our Pros. Damn, he nailed it. The Pulman one kills me every time I see it and the Howard one is so close to home it’s scary!

Check his site for more nastiness at www.gunsho.com, these will be out at the end of November.”

The Flaming Lips put on Halloween fun!

The Flaming Lips put on a special Halloween parade this past weekend.

The band invited around 1,000 fans in their Ghouls Gone Wild parade, with people dressed as “flaming skeletons”, carrying lit torches through Oklahoma City, the band’s hometown.

Singer Wayne Coyne rolled alongside the fans in his trademark plastic bubble and thanked the fans for “coming through” for him.

Sounds like fun, but not quite as fun as OUR Halloween party!

The Making of SMP skatepark

The SMP skatepark in Shanghai, China, is officially the world’s biggest skatepark, and no doubt you’ve already seen the likes of Trujillo tearing the place to pieces.

This lengthy documentary and image gallery features the two Aussie designers and builders of the park, Darren White and Simon Oxenham, giving their thoughts and ideologies towards a project of this size.

When budget is not an issue and and you’ve got a strong army of 100+ Chinese workers to handle the manpower behind your creative vision, you’re definitely one huge step ahead of the process. The “Bigger is Better” skatepark project took a total of 18 months from the initial brainstorming sessions with OZ skate die-hards Tim “Dorfus” McDougall, Tom, “VB” Flaherty, Renton Millar, Brett Margaritas, and Morgan Campbell to completion.

Got a spare half hour this morning? Then get the kettle on, sit back and watch, then think about booking yourself a flight over to China for the weekend.
