Globe – Vagrant

Globe Shoes have delivered another fantastic pair of skate kicks worthy of your attention this month.

The Vagrant, designed and tested by Mark Appleyard is closer in shape to the Magnum but seem wider once you get your feet in them but once you do, they are seriously comfortable.

I used to skate past a vagrant in Kingston back in the day that smelled of wee so bad that local skaters used to call him Smellblast.
There he lay, everyday, maggot infested and causing the biggest stink known to world taste buds. But could you imagine his joy if he had access to instant grip and heel support in a lightweight shoe?

The Vagrant seems to cover all of these bases and lasted a little longer than my Magnums because overall they are built tougher all over. They come with a vulcanized rubber sole and the finish comes distressed in suede and action leather. So if the ‘fucked up’ look floats your boat then you are on an instant winner here.

Overall these rock, go get em..

Best Of German Graffiti

M. Uyer
Hauschild H.M. GmbH

Opening a present at Christmas is fun in itself, but when the wrapping paper was removed and thrown onto the ever growing pile and a graf book from Germany sat in my hands, the fun augmented tenfold.

Though my level of German has slipped in the ten years or so since taking Deutsch GCSE, I can pick up some of the commentary on the pieces laid out within the covers, but even with no German, it is a great addition to my collection.

The variety of this book is what makes it such an interesting read, with the pieces often spanning two pages including an intricate piece by Won in which the artist’s jigsaw style piece asking the reader to “Solve the criminal graf puzzle”. There is a good selection of burners throughout the book as well as some fresh styles from the likes of Angel, CES, DARE and RESO.

With Berlin fast becoming the most artist city in mainland Europe, it comes as no surprise that Germany’s graffiti is impressive and this book’s brilliant collection of work is the perfect showcase for this talent.

Primal CSS

A collaboration between Primal Scream and CSS will surface this year.

Bobby Gillespie, frontman of Scream, met Lovefoxxx in Sao Paulo after having seen them play at the Astoria in London. He asked her if she could like to collaborate on a song and followed it up with an email and the track itself. The song is apparently a mix of psychedelic and electronica.

Revealing how the team-up came about after Gillespie ran into CSS in their hometown of Sao Paulo, the legendary front man then popped the question to Lovefoxxx at one of their gigs. The song will feature on Primal Scream’s new album, which is out this year.
