California Skateparks have announced that they have the go ahead to build a new skatepark at Woodward in Tahoe using natural terrain, a design that will have the likes of Daewon Song and the Worble Crew licking their lips.

The design plans released this week show spots built into the natural environment as opposed to bulldozing it and concreting it which is a rad move.

“We want to leave as much of the existing boulders, trees, and other natural elements as possible and have the park take advantage of the setting by integrating these natural features. Additionally, the elements that we do add are going to reflect the natural beauty of Boreal Mountain at Lake Tahoe. We will have stamped concrete that simulates tree bark, a quarter-pipe that looks like a naturally occurring boulder, and ledges that appear to be logs sawed in half, among other things. While all of these elements will still be built out of concrete and protected by steel, ultimately we want to arrive at a truly unique finished park that feels like it is one with the mountain. Needless to say, we can’t wait to start building!”

It’s a great idea. Start planning your trip this summer.
