Long serving Scottish skate shop Focus have collaborated with Mogwai on a series of limited edition skateboard decks and t-shirts, celebrating the band’s 20th anniversary. Whereas Daft Punk’s latest skateboard attempt was a cruiser, these are the real deal.
Printed in limited numbers, each deck costs £49.95, short sleeve tees £16, long sleeve tees £18, and will be available via Mogwai’s online store and Focus’ online shop and in store at their Edinburgh shop from this Saturday.
£5 from every deck sold will go towards the GUSM74 skate park project in Glasgow. Grab them quickly.
Focus Skate shop’s Glasgow store shut it’s doors last night and said farewell to the city. Their Edinburgh shop is still 100% active but this message was posted last night as they put the lights out after 7 years of service to the skate scene up there.
“And that as they say, is that. Farewell Glasgow, it’s been a pleasure these last 7 years and all that’s left to say is thank you. Thanks to each and every person who’s been involved with the shop since the early days at King Street to the final days at Argyle Street. Thanks to every single person who spent money with us and kept the doors open all these years. Hopefully we’ll be back one day but come see us in Edinburgh or visit our site at www.focuspocus.co.uk Thanks!
Take 2 mins out of your day to read a wonderful tribute from Focus skate shop last night:
“Feb 9th 2011 saw one of the greatest losses to the UK Skateboarding Community, with the passing of Steven “Bingo” Binks. We as skateboarders lost one of our true Greats! Bingo was a true UK Legend and was friends with so many companies and shops all over the country.
One such strong tie was with Deluxe Distribution and particularly Real Skateboards. Real have honoured Bingo with these limited Action Realised “Bingo” Boards, under their Action Realised scheme giving back to the world through positive actions. With the proceeds of the board sales going to The British Heart Foundation we are giving back to the people that need it through Skateboarding.”
Props to Jim and all at Real for doing this, it’s a wonderful tribute. Look out for these soon in your local SOS and support the cause.
