It’s that time of the year again. The Skater of the Year award nominees have been posted this morning and we have one British man in the running alongside a whole host of other contenders.
Ben Raemers gets our vote. How many other British skaters have matched what he has achieved that can skate all terrain so well, make it look easy and still make people laugh with such Dagger-bred goofyness? How many other Brits have two Thrasher covers to to name in the last 5 years? None… Give this Essex lemon squeezer the honours, please.
More the point, who didn’t make the list that should have been on there? No Brad Cromer, Austyn Gillette, or Mark Suciu. No Raven Tershy after all those miles across the planet all year? He must have been stoked on being left out of this.
Thrasher’s official list is below but we reckon it comes down to the following: Torey Pudwill has to be high in the running as he has meant to have a banging edit that closes the new Plan B video and has already taken a couple of covers this year. Barletta laid it down in Oververt and has contributed loads throughout the years. Cory Kennedy has to be in the mix as he’s been active all year and absolutely killed it – in a hat. Wes Kremer delivered some next level stuff as has Raybourn who has had a constant web presence this year too. Ronnie Sandoval could swing it for non stop ripping and Jaws has definitely laid down another year of hammers. He’s unmatched for gnar when you’re talking the big stuff. Then there’s GT. Could he win it twice? Probably.
