Venice Beach gets 17,000 sq ft park

Venice Beach in California has always been famous for its muscle men and rollerdorks, sunsoaked pavements and sweet sunsets not to mention being the home to skateboarding from the days of the legendary Dogtown crew.

This year, skateboarding will finally have its own part of this stretch of beach as plans for a $2m skatepark have been agreed and 10 months of hard graft should carve out the future for the kids of Venice to keep the legend alive.

The park looks like it will cater for both the bowlrider and the street skater and should cover 17,000 sq ft of ground. Various images of the build can be found here.
