St Helier gets a skate park..

Well, its about 20 years too late, but i guess the next generation of rippers from Surrey’s St Helier, Sutton and Merton area will finally get a skate park to shred!

I spent all of my years skating the streets of this area, making our own backyard ramps in disused garages and generally having to travel into town for a sesh unless Fairfields or Worcester Pk was on the agenda for the day, so it’s great to see that locals finally have a spot.

The parks website reports that “….all the ramps and tarmac are in place. All that remains is to finish surfacing with the top layer of Skatelite. The quality is very impressive, with transitions looking perfect for beginners and experts”.

Hopefully the skatelite will resist petrol bombing from the local chavs so we can actually go and christen this park when it’s live! Well done to all involved!
