Wiley

February 8th, 2010 by Crossfire

Wiley is something of an enigma, routinely labelled as the godfather of grime and continually flitting from label to label [Big Dada, Atlantic and now Virgin]. But one thing you can say about Eski Boy is that he knows how to release a single. From Pies to Rolex, She Likes To to Bow E3, he has the catchy hook and the lyrics that, though they’re not the most groundbreaking, definitely leave an impression.

Well he’s back again and this time he’s vibing over the Shy FX produced Never Be Your Woman which samples Crossfire HQ’s Friday Playlist favourite Your Woman by White Town. Whoever would have imagined that? Still, the most important thing is that it works – it’s catchy, the chorus is great and the beat will ensure you’re going to hear this a lot over the coming months in clubland and beyond.

The video is a good ‘un too, not overly concerned with some contrived narrative whilst at the same time not showing a bunch of women with fox heads on. So get your eyes locked down below and open up those ears, Wiley’s at it again.

Abjekt.
