Extended Dylan Rieder interview

Photo: Atiba

The Skateboard Mag sat down for a firesidechat with Dylan Rieder to discuss his recent move to Fucking Awesome Skateboards and turning down sports shoe companies to ride for skater owned brands only.

“Now is a time when skateboarding needs a transition. I appreciate everything Adidas and Nike do for skateboarding, and they pay some of these dudes really good money where they’ll be retiring off it, but how long is that going to last? They’re going to be in skateboarding until skateboarding is not cool anymore and then what is it? Now is the time to be supporting skateboarding companies again.”

Josh Stewart confirms Static IV is his last

Photo: Pep Kim

Following the premiere of Static IV this weekend at the Sunshine Cinema in NYC, filmer and Theories of Atlantis head Josh Stewart has announced that this will be his final production on the Static series.

“I’m afraid that this has to be the final Static. I’ve been working on this series for 15 years and it’s got to end some time. And I’d love to be done with it before I’m 40 and fully crippled with lower back problems. Haha! It’ll be tough to give it up and I’m sure in a month or so I’ll think of a skater who always should’ve had a Static part and I’ll start getting the urge to start another one. But, sweet Jesus… it has to end at some point.”

Read the full Bedford and Bowery interview here and look out for the Static IV release soon.
