Cairo Foster Enjoi’s himself

In a strange turnout, Cairo Foster has found a new home over at the Enjoi Skateboards camp.

I say strange because rumours were rife that Popwar was over resulting in a deep depression for the Corduroy Camp. Luckily the company is still afloat, but minus one of it’s founders.

Anyway, watch the wicked ad that confirms Roger’s new look here.

Blue Scholars new album

Seattle’s Blue Scholars have posted a blog on their myspace saying that work on their new LP is underway. Rapper Geologic stated:

“Folks returning from the third world, folks leaving for school, folks gettin laid off, folks looking for work. Summer is dying a slow death in Seattle. Perfect for a series of late night sessions in the lab concocting what will eventually become the 2ND BLUE SCHOLARS LP. If the first LP was on some summer vibe and the Long March EP invoked autumn, then this next one is – you guessed it – wintertime. Saba’s coming into his own with these melancholy hopeful beats and I’m just trying to stay focused.”

Look out for a Blue Scholars track on the next Hip Hop Radio Show here on Crossfire…

Banksy Vs Paris Hilton

Awesome street-artist and all round genius Banksy has struck again. This time he’s been fucking with Paris Hilton’s new album.

The social kitten’s album have been tampered with and left in indy record shops and even branches of Virgin and HMV. It was confirmed by a spokeswoman for Banksy that he’d swapped Hilton’s CD for one of his own, featuring titles like “What Have I Done?”, “What Am I For?” and “Why Am I Famous?”.

He also tampered with the sleeves, making Paris naked and having a dog’s head. However, he left the bar code on the 500 doctored albums so that customers wouldn’t realise something was wrong. So far, HMV have said no-one who bought the changed CD has complained and Virgin have said that they tip their hat to him – we wonder what they would have said if we had gone in and tagged them up and drawn a poo-stache on her slapable, useless face?!

Keep it up Banksy…you can find his stuff at www.banksy.co.uk

Comets on Fire

OK, light one up and then press the ‘play track‘ button on this page as you need to read this whilst tuning into the music for it to have the best effects.

Comets on Fire are back with a new album on Sub Pop records that needs your attention, especially if you like vegging out to psychedelic rock under the influence. ‘Avatar‘ is a 7 track LP that boasts 70’s rock and blues from start to finish reminding you that stoner rock never ages, it just matures. And if maturity is waht you are looking for in your quest for the unltimate bong load then look no further as tracks such as the opener ‘Dogwood Rust’ is a psychedelic trainride plummetting into an abyss of continuous dirty basslines and snazzy guitar noodling – a real winner to kick start such a wonderful journey.

But this is just 7 minutes of 45 merging into ‘Jaybird’ that builds into chaos and then allows your heart beat to calm down whilst birds sing out the mellow jams that follow. Fuzzy guitars are not all what this album is about though as the delightful piano come-down of ‘Lucifer’s Memory‘ clears the air. This is a temporary lull though as the rolling drums of ‘The Swallows Eye‘ builds towards the rip roaring ‘Holy Teeth‘ where the band go mental with screaming vocals and solo’s that could shave a mans balls. Avatar then ducks out with the meandering ‘Sour Smoke‘ and the rock filled ‘Hatched Upon the Age‘ completing this trip with magnitude and style.

This album is out right now and has a bit of everything, from the golden years of the 70’s acid rock to the early 80’s rocking warlords of metal, go find it and have a night in with the devil…

08-Oct Glasgow Mono
10-Oct Galway Roisin Dubh
