Ice Lounge Version 2 Launches

Have you been over to www.icelounge.com yet?

The site is basically an advanced MySpace but without the emo dickheads and jocks, so it’s just for skaters to meet other skaters and share footage, spots, travel and more and has attracted quite a large skate community worldwide since its launch in March 2005.

The site is run by by pro skater and Black Label Team Manager Salman Agah who has enlisted 25,000 members so far all sharing over 12,000 videos and 60,000 photos so far.

Icelounge.com version 2.0 now offers members the ability to send video and photos from mobile phones directly to their member profile. For the first time, members can post content to the web without having to download to their computer. The new functionality puts the power of instantly generated media into the hands of icelounge.com members. Members can also communicate through the network via comments, blogs, private messaging, and picture/video ratings.

Go check it out.

Danny Way on the TV

Sky Sports Extra are premiering “I Am: Danny Way” tonight at 8pm.

Footage includes his early days on H Street, Plan B (old and new) and beyond, discussions on what makes him tick in his own words, plus the inside scoop on the man who most recently jumped the Great Wall of China.

He opens up like never before and confirms that he is actually made of flesh and bone like everyone else. There is loads of rarely seen old school and behind the scenes footage.

It’s too cold and dark to skate at 8pm so watch this and get the next best thing…..

The Mystery unravels…

Ooh! I! t’s better than a Christmas episode of Eastenders- The Supra-Soletech tabernacle is finally starting to take shape. So far, we have Erik Ellington (Joined by Tosh Townend, but he’s going to Element Shoes!) officially off Emerica for Supra, and Tom Penny hot on his heels.

Rumours have it Uber-am Antwuan Dixon is getting offers too, but don’t belive everything thing you read because Ali Boulala was thrown into this Gay Shoes gangbang too, and he’s currently awaiting his contract from Etnies..???

Ah! The shoe business really takes the biscuit when it comes to dishing out the cash and backstabbing. Who is the Darkman behind such a company that could provoke such bridge burning? Apparently their name ryhmes with Farenheit 720

At least some people are busy repping their ends properly: Go Scott! http://www.skatedaily.net/breakdancer_bourne.mpeg

Fight for the right to party!

Fed up with the bad rep they have been given and the imminent threat of hefty fines, the skate community of Barcelona took to the streets and protested against the new law that bans any skating, street vending, art etc in the Catalan capital.

Even though security and Police in the area are definitely w! orking at a clampdown on the skaters and dirty fingers are being pointed all over the place, what skaters need to do is work together and fight for their right to skate!

This news comes from our friends at Antiz Skateboards who are busy working on their new video, and possibly planning a tour to the shores of Blighty…

La vie est belle! At least it is for Lucas Puig who continues to receive praise right left and centre, and secures on official position next to Mike Carroll and the Gonz at Fourstar Clothing. The kid already has steez, but now he’s going to look even better!

Also out of the Lyonnaise skate camp, we have received news that Brophy is now on full amateur status. Well done Manchild! But get well soon, that pop of yours can be dangerous! http://www.clicheskate.com/news/brophy

Oh, and Al Boglio has let it be known that Aussie bearing company – Modus is expanding with the team including John Rattray, Chima Ferguson and Cale Nuske.

Keep on Trucking…

It isn’t everyday the Truck market gets a shake up, and I think we often take those metallic axles for granted, but anyway… For your information, Rick McCrank and Eric Koston have quit Royal trucks. Ummm? Wasn’t Royal Eric’s company?

How many pictures of these guys riding Indys did it take before push came to shove..? In any case, Eric is probably going to join the long list of pro’s with a signature model over at Thunder.

Elsewhere, Chris Haslam has understood that keeping things simple can often be wiser as he trades in his Tensors for a pair of Independents, and Mike York left long time sponsor Venture to get crooked with some Grind Kings.

Did anyone say Grind King video for 2006..?

Lords of Dogtown Double DVD

Lords of Dogtown is the acclaimed, true life story of three teenage surfers who radicalised the sport of skateboarding in the 1970’s. Starring Heath Ledger (Casanova, The Brothers Grimm), Emile Hirsch (The Girl Next Door) and Nikki Reed, (Thirteen) this cool movie, set in sunny California, Lords of Dogtown is the tale of how a phenomenon was created.

When three young friends Tony Alva, Stacy Peralta and Jay Adams started trying out new tricks in the empty swimming pools of unsuspecting neighbours they had no idea they were creating tricks that would take the skateboarding world by storm and become the basis for the whole movement. They also didn’t realise it would make household names of them all.

The box set featuring the amazing documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys is released on 16th January and also to rent from your local store. It also includes amazing extras including a director’s commentary and 9 behind-the-scenes featurettes. If you want some roots then this is for you.
